Kevin Wright, the producer of Loki season 2, has confirmed that the studio is currently working on a highly-anticipated moment from the Marvel Cinematic Universe that fans are eagerly waiting for.

Loki revolves around the escapades of a version of the mischievous god who steals the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame. After his heist, he is apprehended by the Time Variance Authority, an organization dedicated to monitoring and maintaining the timeline. The first season of the show was immensely successful, showcasing how Tom Hiddleston's portrayal of Loki has transformed over time, making him a more beloved character in the MCU.

Loki season two received a quick renewal for Disney Plus, as revealed by series executive producer Wright in an interview with Variety. When asked about the possibility of Loki joining the wider MCU in the future, Wright addressed a popular fan request. "I don't want to - yeah. The priority of the story we're telling has always been to see Loki and Thor in the spotlight once again," explained Wright, acknowledging the viewers' longing for the two brothers to reunite on the big screen. "But in order for that reunion to truly be fulfilling, we need to take Loki on an emotional journey. That's been the goal of these two seasons."

A deleted scene in Loki season 1 showcased a cameo by Thor, but since their last encounter, the two brothers have had little involvement with each other. Loki's adventures in the multiverse did not coincide with Thor's battle against Gorr the God Butcher. The reunion of Loki and Thor would undoubtedly be a beloved moment for fans and would bring much-needed emotional depth to the post-Infinity saga MCU. The show's creators seem to be aware of this fact. Additionally, there is potential for many more stories to be told within the Loki world and other realms connected to the character. However, the possibility of a grand reunion for Loki might be limited due to the challenges of integrating Marvel's TV characters into films. The show's creators have expressed a desire for the TVA and other characters from Loki to have a more significant role in the MCU, but achieving this integration may prove to be more difficult than anticipated.

Loki season 2 premieres on Disney Plus on October 5, 2023.
