The Lockwood 300 shotgun in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been nerfed in the latest patch, reducing its damage range with the Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment.
Speculation among fans suggests that the Lockwood buff may have been a strategic move to promote the Doom crossover bundle. This bundle encompasses a Lockwood 300 blueprint that bears a striking resemblance to Doom's Super Shotgun. In addition to this, the October 11 patch brings about various enhancements to other weapons and modifications to the Gaia operator skin, which is reminiscent of Groot. The performance of the Lockwood 300 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is yet to be determined.
The Lockwood 300 shotgun, a highly popular and formidable weapon in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, has undergone a nerf in the recent October 11 update. Currently in its sixth and final season, Modern Warfare 2 has introduced exciting additions such as new maps, weapons, and thrilling Halloween-themed collaborations with Spawn, Diablo, and Doom.
Since the commencement of the sixth season, fans have expressed their dissatisfaction with the overwhelming power of the Lockwood 300 shotgun. This iconic double-barreled weapon, available at level 36, excels in close-quarter combat and proves useful in mid-range engagements. Notably, significant enhancements were made to the shotgun in both the Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone versions at the beginning of Season 6, elevating its status as one of the most formidable and devastating weapons in the game this season.
As part of the recent patch update on October 11, the Lockwood 300 has undergone partial nerfs. Specifically, the damage range when utilizing the Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment, which allows both shells to be fired simultaneously, has been reduced for close and mid-range engagements. It is important to note that the damage enhancement implemented at the start of Season 6 remains unaffected.
Speculation among fans suggests that the Lockwood buff was intended to generate attention for the Doom crossover bundle, which includes a Lockwood 300 blueprint designed like Doom's iconic Super Shotgun. What is noteworthy is that this blueprint already has the Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment integrated, resulting in diminished effectiveness at mid range for Lockwood Super Shotgun users. The recent October 11 patch also brought about damage buffs for the Kastov 545, Kastov 74u, and Minibak, while nerfing the M13B, TR-76 Geist, ISO 9mm, and Lachmann Shroud. Furthermore, the visually elusive Gaia operator skin resembling Groot, featured in the new battle pass, has received additional visual effects to enhance visibility on the battlefield, addressing player complaints regarding its blending into the surroundings.
Moving forward, as Modern Warfare 2 weapons transition into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in the coming month, it will be intriguing to observe whether the Lockwood 300 retains its standing as one of the most dominant weapons amidst the array of new armaments introduced in this third installment of the Modern Warfare reboot trilogy. Consequently, it remains to be seen whether Infinity Ward will revert the Lockwood's damage buff, implemented at the outset of Season 6, and if the weapon will endure the transition to Modern Warfare 3.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
