Michelle Williams and her husband Thomas Kail were seen in matching black outfits at the Gotham Awards on Monday, November 27, proving that couples who dress alike stay together.
At the age of 43, Williams donned a Schiaparelli black bustier top paired with a black asymmetrical skirt from the Italian brand’s fall 2023 ready-to-wear collection. The plunging neckline and intricate spiral-like three-dimensional detailing on the bust made the bustier stand out. It cinched at the waist and flared slightly at the sides. To complete the look, Williams added a Bel Perron spiral torque necklace adorned with two-tiered pearls and an oversized ring as accessories.

Her short cropped blonde hair was elegantly styled with a side part, complemented by black eyeliner, rosy cheeks, and a subtle pink lipstick for a touch of glam.
As for Kail, 45, he also chose a sleek black ensemble. The Broadway theater director donned a classic tailored double-breasted suit, paired with black dress shoes, a crisp white button-down shirt, and a black tie with thin white stripes.
The couple first crossed paths on the set of Fosse/Verdon, an FX show that premiered in April 2019. Kail was one of the executive producers, and Williams portrayed actress and dancer Gwen Verdon. In 2020, they tied the knot. They welcomed their son, Hart Kail, in the same year, and they have another child on the way, due in 2022. In addition, Williams is the mother of 18-year-old Matilda Ledger, whom she shares with the late actor Heath Ledger.

Williams and Kail have successfully kept their relationship private and are seldom seen together on the red carpet, making their stylish appearances even more impactful.
Their first public appearance as a couple was in January 2020 at the Golden Globes. Williams wore a striking custom orange Louis Vuitton one-shoulder gown with blue shoulder detailing, while Kail complemented her look with a simple black suit and tie.
Later in the month, Williams and Kail made another appearance on the red carpet at the SAG Awards, once again matching in all black. Williams looked stunning in an off-the-shoulder black floor-length gown, while Kail chose a timeless black suit and tie ensemble.

In March 2023, Kail attended the Oscars with Williams. She donned a stunning white Chanel Haute Couture gown with a sheer cape adorned with crystals, while Kail opted for a timeless black tuxedo to complement his wife’s elegant ensemble.
The couple had not been photographed in public since the 2023 Tony Awards in June before Monday night. Kail wore a classic black suit and tie, while Williams looked stunning in a sequined silver dress for the glamorous event.
