Nintendo and Sony have joined forces to create a live-action adaptation of the iconic game series, Legend of Zelda. One of the most intriguing aspects of the upcoming movie is the casting of the beloved characters Link and Zelda. While the actors for these roles remain unknown, Machine Gun Kelly has thrown his hat in the ring for the role of Link. Taking to Instagram, Kelly confidently stated, "We'll have a problem if I'm not chosen to portray Link."

Kelly, an actor himself, is a devoted enthusiast of the Zelda franchise. During Halloween in 2022, he donned the character of Link, while his fiancée Megan Fox transformed into Zelda. Operating under the birth name Colson Baker, he has showcased his talent in notable films such as Bird Box and The Dirt.

Earlier, Hunter Schafer, renowned for their role in Euphoria, expressed profound delight at taking on the role of Zelda in the movie adaptation. Nevertheless, no official casting revelations regarding the Zelda movie have surfaced thus far.

The film is expected to generate high anticipation, following the remarkable success of Nintendo's most recent movie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. With a staggering box office collection of over $1.3 billion, it stands as the second highest-grossing movie of 2023. Marvel's Avi Arad will take on the role of producer for the live-action Zelda movie. Although still in its early development phase, details regarding the cast, director, storyline, and release date have yet to be revealed. Nonetheless, the involvement of Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto as a producer adds excitement to the project.

Miyamoto expressed his belief that adapting Zelda into a live-action film will pose significant challenges. He acknowledged the immense pressure to create a movie that will meet the high expectations of the global fan base. Miyamoto drew parallels between movies and games, emphasizing the need for dedicated and extensive work to achieve a satisfactory outcome.

As for the Zelda game series, Tears of the Kingdom has sold more than 19.5 million copies and is regarded as one of the best games of 2023.

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z fan, I'm thrilled about the potential of a live-action Zelda movie. The Legend of Zelda is one of my all-time favorite game series, and I can't wait to see it brought to life on the big screen. I think Machine Gun Kelly would be an excellent choice to play Link. He's got the look, the attitude, and the acting chops to pull it off. Plus, he's a huge fan of the series, so I know he'd be passionate about the role.

I'm also excited to see who they cast as Zelda. Hunter Schafer would be a great choice, but I'm open to other possibilities. Whoever they choose, I hope they're able to capture the character's strength, intelligence, and beauty. I'm confident that the Zelda movie will be a huge success, and I can't wait to see it when it comes out.
