Amber Desiree “AD” Smith and her ex-fiancé Clay Gravesande had doubts about their relationship before their Love Is Blind wedding.

During an episode of “The Viall Files” podcast on Thursday, March 14, AD, 33, revealed, “Clay and I had many conversations about not moving forward.” Despite this, she acknowledged that it may have seemed like she was blindly following him even when he expressed doubts about getting married.

She continued, “There were many times when I felt like giving up, but he was determined to make it work. He really wanted to try and make our relationship work."

AD and Clay, 31, got engaged without seeing each other inside the Love Is Blind season 6 pods. Clay had fears about being faithful in a relationship because he saw his father cheat on his mother when he was young. He was worried he might do the same in a marriage.

"He would always promise to change and show me he cared in certain ways, but then he would bring up his fear of marriage," AD shared on Thursday. "I would remind him that we didn't have to rush into anything. I didn't want to feel embarrassed in front of our loved ones." He reassured me, saying he wouldn't humiliate me. But what did he end up doing? Humiliating me in the end!"

AD Smith and Clay Gravesend's story was featured on Netflix. During their wedding ceremony, Clay shocked everyone by calling off their engagement right after AD had said "I do" at the altar. AD, heartbroken, walked back up the aisle in tears before deciding to leave the venue on her own.

Clay and AD met again during the season 6 reunion, which was broadcast on Wednesday, March 13. During the reunion, Clay admitted that he regretted his actions because AD is the most important person in his life. However, AD has already moved on.

AD described her relationship with Clay as playful and friendly. She mentioned in an interview with podcast host Nick Viall that when they meet outside, they are very affectionate with each other. They hug, cuddle, and are always close. Despite this, AD emphasized that they are just friends.

AD mentioned that she takes pleasure in teasing Clay about what he missed out on whenever she can, and it has been incredibly effective.

She jokingly mentioned on Thursday that she is now "so single" with her DMs wide open, despite briefly dating another contestant, Matthew Duliba, after Love Is Blind. AD and Matthew had a strong connection in the pods, but their relationship ended after he used the same lines on both AD and Amber Grant. AD shared during the reunion that she and Matthew went on two in-person dates, but realized their lifestyles were too different for a lasting connection.

Love Is Blind season 6 is currently streaming on Netflix.
