Liel Abada's Unexpected Setback: Celtic Winger to Be Sidelined for Up to Four Months with Thigh Injury

Celtic's winger, Liel Abada, will sadly be sidelined for a substantial period of three to four months due to a thigh injury This setback may force him to miss the entirety of Celtic's Champions League campaign, despite recently signing a promising four-year contract extension

Celtic's winger, Liel Abada, may be unable to participate in the entire Champions League campaign due to a thigh injury sustained while training with the Israeli team. The 21-year-old has consistently featured in the first team this season under Brendan Rodgers and recently started in their victorious 1-0 match against Rangers at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.

Called up to the Israel squad for their Euro 2024 qualifiers against Romania and Belarus, he unfortunately sustained an injury during a training drill, causing him to miss out on both games. Manager Brendan Rodgers acknowledged the setback for the player, who had recently signed a new four-year deal on transfer deadline day.

He mentioned that he had gone to London for a scan that day. We anticipate his absence to last approximately three to four months.

Unfortunately, he sustained the injury towards the end of a training session during a shooting exercise. This is truly disappointing for our team as he had performed admirably during pre-season and has been a regular starter since my arrival.

"We are extremely disappointed; however, since we view this as a team effort, we have other players who can step in.

"At the end of training, he injured his thigh while participating in shooting exercises. It appears that he has strained his thigh muscle."

He happily signed a new contract, and I was excited about his ongoing development, as he still has many areas that can be improved upon.

It's unfortunate, but it will be a valuable learning experience for him. He will put in the effort, hopefully recover soon, and we will utilize him for the latter part of the season.

Rodgers included Abada in his 25-man squad for Celtic's upcoming Champions League campaign. Their first match will be against Feyenoord on September 19. Abada recently scored his 29th goal in 106 appearances for Celtic. This occurred during their 3-1 victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie in August.

He has also won five trophies with the club, including last season's treble, and was voted PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year in his first season.
