Brendan Rodgers' Sensational Celtic Comeback: Secures Long-Term Managerial Role to Replace Ange Postecoglou

Brendan Rodgers returns to Celtic as manager, aiming to replicate his previous success With backing from the club, he plans to strengthen the team for Scottish Premiership dominance and a strong Champions League campaign

Brendan Rodgers has agreed terms on a long-term deal to return to Celtic as manager.

It is understood the paperwork is being finalised and an announcement is expected this week.

Rodgers, who is now 50 years old, achieved remarkable success during his initial tenure in Glasgow. He secured an impressive seven trophies, including consecutive domestic trebles. However, his departure for Leicester City during the 2018/19 season caused immense disappointment among numerous Celtic supporters.

It has been reported that Rodgers has reached an agreement that surpasses his previous Celtic contract. This new deal is set to make him the highest-paid manager in the club's history once again.

Brendan Rodgers is set to return to Celtic

Celtic's board will back Rodgers in the transfer market to help him deliver domestic success and compete in the Champions League, We News has been told.

Rodgers had been rumored to be a potential candidate for the open position at Leeds United, despite his initial intention to take a long break from coaching after leaving Leicester City in April.

What is Celtic's schedule?

Celtic players will return for pre-season training at the club's Lennoxtown base before jetting out to Japan on tour in July.

On July 19, their first opponents will be Yokohama F Marinos, the former club of Postecoglou, followed by a match against Gamba Osaka on July 22. After that, they will travel to South Korea and face Wolves at the Suwon World Cup Stadium on July 26.

Celtic kick off their Scottish Premiership title defence on the weekend of August 5/6 before Champions League group-stage action gets under way on September 19/20.

Celtic's triumph in the Scottish Cup concluded a remarkable domestic treble in the previous season. At the time of introducing their new manager, the club was facing immense turmoil, having suffered a 25-point deficit to rivals Rangers in the league standings, while also dealing with the challenge of several players' contracts expiring.

Rodgers will step in to take over from Postecoglou, inheriting a team that is in excellent condition and poised to reach new heights. Postecoglou's astute signings have proven themselves, contributing to Celtic's dominant run and securing five trophies in just two seasons.

Fans may have concerns about Postecoglou potentially taking some Celtic players to Tottenham. However, if this were to happen, Celtic could benefit financially by commanding a high transfer fee. This additional revenue could then be reinvested into strengthening the squad, as the club aims to once again compete in the Champions League.

Kyogo Furuhashi scored 34 goals in all competitions last season

With his impressive performance last season, Kyogo Furuhashi emerged as one of Postecoglou's early acquisitions from the Japanese market, displaying immense potential to join a prominent club. As the leading goal scorer in the Premiership, the 28-year-old's contract has only two years remaining, making it unsurprising if his former manager attempts to lure him to North London.

Players such as Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda, and Cameron Carter-Vickers have contracts that extend until 2026, while Jota's deal is set to run until 2027. As a result, it may prove more challenging to lure them away from the club.
