How to find knotroot

To craft an uncommon-quality forest axe, upgrade the bench using three wooden rods and three skeleton bones, which are abundant at night. After crafting the axe, it's time to go spelunking.

Knotroot is exclusively found in caves, so you'll need to search for one. Thankfully, they're quite easy to identify: cave entrances are situated amidst massive piles of boulders that are too large to mine with a pickaxe. They are easily visible from a distance, and once you approach a cave entrance, it will be permanently marked on your map. Stick to caves in the temperate zone for now; if it's your first time obtaining knotroot, you won't be prepared for the hot or cold areas and will quickly perish if you enter caves in those regions.

Upon entering the temperate zone cave, you will immediately notice the knotroot - twisted, curly tree roots protruding from the walls and ceilings. While plentiful, the cave is also teeming with creatures looking to harm you, so be prepared to fight your way through.

Collecting the knotroot can be used as a crafting ingredient to upgrade your village to level 4 and for other purposes, as well as being able to create Knotroot rods for improved equipment.
