Lea Michele made Mother’s Day extra special by announcing the gender of her second child. On Sunday, May 12, the 37-year-old actress took to Instagram to share a picture of her growing baby bump. In the caption, she expressed her happiness about being a mom to her son Ever and revealed that she is expecting a baby girl.
In the heartwarming post, Lea wrote, “Had the most amazing Mother’s Day today, snuggling with my son who made me a mom… and carrying my daughter.” The photo showed her holding a bouquet while gently cradling her belly, radiating pure joy.
Michele tied the knot with her husband Zandy Reich in 2019, with the ceremony officiated by Glee creator Ryan Murphy. They became parents to son Ever, who is now 3 years old, born in August 2020. In March of this year, they happily announced that they were expecting another child.
The journey to this pregnancy has been challenging for Michele. Dealing with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the Glee star faced difficulties in getting pregnant for both of her pregnancies.
"I kept thinking, ‘Maybe this isn’t meant to be for me. Maybe this isn’t going to happen,’” she shared about her fertility struggles during her first pregnancy on Instagram Live with Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2021. It had always been her biggest fear, but also her greatest desire.
Even after getting pregnant, Michele's journey was not without its challenges. She opened up to Schwarzenegger about some scary moments she experienced during her first pregnancy.

"I had a scary experience with heavy bleeding, which led us to rush to the hospital in the middle of the night. It felt like every other day we were facing uncertainty," she shared. "I was prescribed a high dosage of progesterone to support the pregnancy and had to be on bed rest throughout my entire first trimester. It was a really tough time, just absolutely awful."
Michele has also been open about the challenges they faced while trying to conceive their second child, sharing on Instagram Stories in March 2022 about their struggles.
Our journey welcoming our second baby into this world was challenging, and we have faced some difficulties along the way. In March 2022, Michele shared on Instagram Stories that there have been some heartbreaks, but she remains hopeful that God will bless us with another child when the time is right.
In addition to dealing with PCOS-related issues, Michele and Reich, who is 41 years old, have also experienced frightening moments with Ever. He was hospitalized twice in April 2023, which was a tough time for the family. Michele expressed how there are moments when you just feel like breaking down and crying.
Michele, despite facing challenges in the past, made sure to enjoy her pregnancy. She proudly displayed her growing baby bump at the 2024 Met Gala, embracing the "Garden of Time" theme with a charming baby blue dress decorated with elegant white flowers.
