Laugh Out Loud with an Exciting New Pokemon Comedy Manga – Coming Soon!

A new comedy manga from the Pokemon franchise is set to be released next month. Titled Pokemon ~Detouring Volt Tacklers!!~ (English title not confirmed), it will be based on the anime series Pokemon Horizons: The Series and will take place in that world, featuring the same characters.

The announcement was made earlier this week in the August issue of Ciao magazine, published by Shogakukan. Rikka Kise, a newcomer to the Pokemon publishing journey, will be the writer for this new manga. Pokemon ~Detouring Volt Tacklers!!~ will premiere on August 3rd, 2023, in the next issue of Ciao.

In the same issue of Ciao, another exciting revelation was made. The popular Pokemon manga, Pokemon: Liko's Treasure, has officially concluded with its final chapter. The manga made its debut in the magazine on May 2nd and surprisingly wrapped up this month after just two issues. It was an integral part of the Pokemon Horizons: The Series anime universe, providing a brief side story that complemented the main anime and focused on the character Liko.

Pokemon Horizons: The Series marks a significant departure in the Pokemon anime as it no longer features the iconic protagonist, Ash Ketchum, who bid farewell to the series after claiming the title of Pokemon World Champion. Instead, the spotlight shifts to two fresh faces, Liko and Roy, as they navigate the enchanting world of Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, the latest game releases. Notably, a charming new addition comes in the form of Captain Pikachu, a Pikachu character unique to this series.

The anime made its debut on April 14th, 2023, and is scheduled to continue airing throughout this year and beyond. These compact spin-off manga serve as a valuable addition to the latest realm, with a particular focus on these fresh faces. It's worth noting that the original anime series revolved around Ash and his Pikachu and graced television screens from 1998 until 2022. Thus, now they have an entirely new cast of characters and tales to delve into.

Pokemon ~Detouring Volt Tacklers!!~ is likely to be another short story, similar to Pokemon: Liko's Adventures. The actual length has not been disclosed yet, but just like Liko's Adventures, it could end without any prior notice. The intention is to generate interest and emotional involvement among fans with the new characters, allowing them to move on from Ash. Hopefully, this new comedy will successfully achieve that goal, especially considering the negative reception associated with the games in this Pokemon generation.
