Kyle Walker is said to have a preference for staying with Manchester City instead of moving to Bayern Munich, who have shown interest in signing the defender. According to reports from Sky in Germany, Bayern is currently engaged in advanced negotiations for his transfer, but the 33-year-old is keen on staying at the Etihad and securing an extension to his current contract.
City are reluctant to part ways with Walker this summer, as he still has one year remaining on his existing contract. In a surprising move, Pep Guardiola, the head coach of City, opted to keep Walker on the bench during the Champions League final, instead favoring Nathan Ake in the defensive lineup.
According to Guardiola, Walker was deemed unfit to play in City's system. This resulted in John Stones transitioning from defense to midfield, coinciding with the period when the English player had been benched. Guardiola expressed his belief that Walker lacked the necessary skills for playing in an interior position, stating that while his speed would always remain, he lacked the refined movements and characteristics required for the role.
Walker, who transferred from Tottenham to City in 2017 for a hefty sum of £50m, has achieved remarkable success during his six-year tenure at the club. With an impressive track record, he has secured five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and even the prestigious Champions League trophy.

Barcelona are looking to sign at least one new midfielder this summer and remain keen on City captain Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer.
The discussions between Gundogan and City involve a potential new contract as his current one is nearing its expiration at the end of the month. Nonetheless, the duration of the proposed deal has become an issue for the 32-year-old. The offer consists of a one-year contract with the possibility of extending it by an additional 12 months.
Who will be on the move this summer when the transfer window opens on June 14 and closes at 11pm on September 1 in England and midnight in Scotland?
