Kristen Stewart revealed in a recent interview that she is not a fan of filming simulated sex scenes. In a cover story for Them magazine, the 33-year-old actress expressed her discomfort with these scenes, stating that she is embarrassed by them and tired of watching and performing them.
Stewart filmed intimate scenes with her costar Katy O’Brian for their new movie, Love Lies Bleeding, which suited her well.
She explained, “The ways in which you allow the person you’re with to either take control or be immersed were deliberate choices. They were clear, nonverbal decisions that we both agreed on. Without that connection, the scene would not have worked.”
She continued to express, "Literally, it's almost like you can take the body out of it. Just tell me the right words, and that's all I need to hear. Let me know that I mean something to you. Say I have the potential to surpass you in height, even though I'm 5'5 and you're 5'10, and I'm right there with you."
Love Lies Bleeding, which came out earlier this month, tells the story of Lou, a reclusive gym manager, who falls in love with Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder. However, their relationship takes a dangerous turn. This film is a new direction for Stewart, who has been focusing on projects that she is truly passionate about, especially those that showcase LGBTQIA+ couples.

Stewart had high praise for the special chemistry between Lou and Jackie in Love Lies Bleeding when talking to Them.
She mentioned how the different perspectives they had on their characters and the situations they were in made their interactions unique. According to Stewart, their conversations were never predictable because they were always on different pages. This added to the perfection of their characters, who were deeply engrossed in each other even when they weren't on the same wavelength.
Stewart admired how Love Lies Bleeding challenges the typical idea of a "lesbian" movie. She believes that categorizing our experiences into a separate genre is risky and prefers to avoid perpetuating that notion. Instead, she emphasizes the importance of delving deep into our own identities and exploring ourselves openly. Connecting with our inner selves is crucial for authentic storytelling.
The actress further discussed this topic by considering the impact of a sexual storyline on the overall narrative of a film.
"We're all caught up in our thoughts, living in a world of our own creation," she explained. "It's not about deceiving ourselves, but rather embracing the narratives we create about ourselves so we can confidently present ourselves to the world and experience touch in a way that brings us joy."
Away from the spotlight, Stewart has discovered love with her fiancée Dylan Meyer, whom she reconnected with in 2019 after first meeting years ago.
During her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on Monday, March 18, she shared how lucky she felt to reconnect with someone she had initially felt unprepared for. She expressed her admiration for the other person and acknowledged her own selfishness in the past.
The couple first met in 2013 and later reconnected. They got engaged one year after they began dating.
"We're getting married, we're definitely going through with it," Stewart excitedly shared on The Howard Stern Show in 2021. "I had always dreamed of being proposed to, so I made it clear what I wanted, and she got it just right. Our wedding is happening, it's really happening."
