Kourtney Kardashian’s fourth pregnancy has turned out a lot differently from her past experiences.
In the recent interview with Vanity Fair Italia, Kardashian, 44, revealed that unlike her previous pregnancies, she was under the supervision of a different group of doctors who imposed several restrictions on her in the initial months. These restrictions included no workouts, no Pilates, no caffeine, no plane trips, and even no sex! The heightened caution took Kardashian by surprise and she admitted experiencing some fear as she had never had to be so careful in the past. It took her some time to overcome this fear.
Kardashian and Barker, both 47 years old, announced in June that they are expecting their first child together. The couple, who got married in May 2022, already have three children each. Kardashian has two sons, Mason (13) and Reign (8), and a daughter, Penelope (11), from her previous relationship with Scott Disick. Barker, on the other hand, shares a son named Landon (20) and a daughter named Alabama (17) with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler. He is also a stepfather to Moakler's eldest daughter, Atiana, from her previous relationship with Oscar De La Hoya.
As the stars of "The Kardashians" blended their families, they were excited to expand their brood even further. Despite undergoing IVF treatments prior to their wedding, they were eventually able to conceive their baby boy naturally.
When asked about criticisms from social media trolls regarding her fertility journey, she confidently shared with the magazine, "Those comments don't affect me. To those who make them, I simply question, 'How dare you challenge God's plan?' Because, from my perspective, this pregnancy is a testament to divine timing. It happened when both Travis and I had shifted our focus away from it, and when I had ceased fertility treatment."
In her interview with Vanity Fair Italia, Kardashian expressed feeling compelled to pursue IVF as if it were the only feasible option for her to conceive. However, she openly acknowledged, "The truth is, I felt as though I was forcing myself into a path that didn't align with me. My gut instinct was telling me that it wasn't the right fit—I don't even take medication, so you can imagine—it seemed to be working against my body rather than for it."
The Lemme founder, who mentioned that her older children had been expressing their desire for a new sibling for some time, underwent urgent fetal surgery in September due to a medical complication. As both she and the baby recover, Kardashian has shifted her focus away from pregnancy anxieties.
"After the surgery, I reached a point where I let go and stopped worrying," she shared with Vanity Fair Italia. "Now, I talk to the baby every day, maintain a positive mindset, stay focused, and offer many prayers. I feel extremely fortunate and grateful. I have a deep sense of gratitude. Not that I lacked it before, but perhaps I took the pregnancy for granted because it came easily to me."
