Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested that the club may challenge the decision to send off Alexis Mac Allister during their match against Bournemouth. Klopp believes that the challenge did not warrant a red card as it was lacking in severity. Despite being reduced to 10 players, Liverpool managed to elevate their performance and secure a 3-1 victory, thanks to goals from Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, and Diogo Jota. Mac Allister was making his debut at Anfield when he was dismissed for a high challenge on Ryan Christie in the 58th minute.
The block tackle on Christie lacked any intention to harm the player, although it was high and made contact with the Scot's shin. Referee Thomas Brammall's decision was not reversed by VAR, and former Premier League referee Mike Dean, commenting on Soccer Saturday, described it as a definite red card.
Klopp mentioned the possibility of appealing and expressed his intention to discuss it with the relevant individuals.
Regarding the decision, he acknowledged the referee's perspective but argued that upon reviewing the incident, it was evident that the contact made was minimal and lacked force.
There have been more severe challenges in the past that didn't receive red cards, but they should have. It is important that we address this matter and initiate a discussion. If the referee initially determined it to be a yellow card, the VAR would not have changed it to a red card.
There are various aspects missing for it to qualify as a red card, such as the level of intensity. While there was contact, there should be a distinct intent for it to be considered a red card offense. We will communicate our concerns to the appropriate individuals for further discussion.
Dean: 'Mac Allister went in high, catching him on shin'
Former Premier League referee Dean commenting on Soccer Saturday:"He initiated the tackle at a relatively high height, although there was not much intensity behind it. However, he did make contact with the opponent's upper body region. It seemed like a lackadaisical attempt."
"He probably doesn't need to make the challenge. He has caught him on the shin.
"It's not a wrong decision by the referee. He's gone in with his studs showing and he's caught him on the shin.
"VAR would have looked at it. They're happy with Tom's [referee Thomas Brammall] decision and the game moves on."
Klopp: Intense few days for Endo

Liverpool's Wataru Endo showcased his skills during the thrilling Premier League match at Anfield. Despite the potential challenges of being a man down, Klopp skillfully orchestrated the opportunity for the newly signed player to make his debut. Endo's arrival came with a hefty price tag of £16.2m.
During Endo's introduction, he expressed, "It didn't go as I had envisioned. The past two days were incredibly demanding."
"This morning, we had a conversation, but it didn't involve discussing a 4-4-1 formation. I hadn't anticipated that. It's common knowledge that when you only get five minutes of playtime in a match like this, it feels as if you've been on the field for 200 minutes. It's an entirely different experience."
"This midfield never, ever played together. It was not planned but we came through it and now he has his first minutes."
