Wildflower, a poignant family drama based on a true story, will be available for streaming on Hulu starting June 23. In an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette, director Matt Smukler delves into his approach to a pivotal scene, offering viewers a glimpse into the making of the film. The talented Kiernan Shipka, known for her roles in Mad Men and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, takes on the lead role of Bea, a teenage girl who, despite her intellectually disabled parents, finds herself shouldering the responsibilities of running the household.
As the narrative unfolds in Wildflower, Bea's seemingly composed demeanor begins to crack under the weight of her adult responsibilities. Simultaneously, she and her extensive family must confront the revelation that her parents, Derek (Dash Mihok) and Sharon (Samantha Hyde), may not be as helpless as she once believed. Joining Shipka in the film are Alexandra Daddario as her aunt Joy, Jean Smart as Grandma Peg, Jacki Weaver as Grandma Loretta, and Charlie Plummer as her love interest, Ethan.
