Kesha Alters Lyrics, Removes Diddy from 'Tik Tok' Amidst Cassie Lawsuit

Kesha swiftly alters 'Tik Tok' lyrics after Cassie's legal action against Diddy sparks creative revision, injecting fresh life into her 2009 chart-topper

Kesha no longer wakes up in the morning feeling like Diddy.

During her show in Oakland, California on Friday, November 17, the 36-year-old singer, known for starting her song "Tik Tok" with the line, "Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy," was captured in social media footage seemingly singing a new line: "Wake up in the morning feeling just like me."

The change occurred after Cassie filed a lawsuit against Sean "Diddy" Combs on November 16th, alleging sexual assault and abuse. Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura and is 37 years old, claimed that Diddy, 54, exerted control over her during their relationship by using drugs, physically harming her, and filming her engaging in sexual acts with male prostitutes. Diddy promptly denied the allegations through a statement from his lawyer. The lawsuit was settled the following day.

"I have chosen to resolve this matter in a peaceful manner, while maintaining some level of agency," said Cassie, represented by attorney Douglas Wigdor, on November 17th. "I want to express my deep appreciation to my family, fans, and legal team for their unwavering support."

On Saturday, November 18, Diddy's lawyer Ben Brafman stated that the settlement should not be seen as an admission of guilt on Diddy's part. Brafman clarified that settling a lawsuit, especially in 2023, does not imply any wrongdoing. While Diddy firmly denies the allegations, he is pleased that an agreement could be reached and wishes the best for Ms. Ventura.

Meanwhile, Kesha had been engaged in her own legal battle with Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald) for almost ten years. In a lawsuit filed in 2014, Kesha accused the producer of assaulting her in 2005. She claimed to have woken up in Dr. Luke's bed feeling unwell and with no memory of how she ended up there. Kesha alleged that Dr. Luke had threatened to ruin her career if she ever spoke about the incident.

Dr. Luke refuted Kesha's allegations, leading to her withdrawal of the lawsuit in 2016. However, the producer retaliated by filing a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Kesha.

In June, they reached a settlement in the defamation suit. A message on the singer's Instagram account stated, "Kesha and Dr. Luke have reached a resolution in the lawsuit and have agreed to release a joint statement regarding the outcome."

Kesha acknowledged that the details of the night she claimed Dr. Luke assaulted her are unclear, stating that she cannot remember everything that occurred. She expressed her desire to move on from this chapter of her life and wished peace for all parties involved.

Dr. Luke maintained his innocence and appreciated Kesha acknowledging her inability to recall the events of that night in 2005. He confidently asserted that nothing harmful took place and categorically denied any form of drugging or assault. Throughout the past decade, he has vigorously fought to restore his reputation for the sake of his family.

He concluded: “It is time for me to put this difficult matter behind me and move on with my life. I wish Kesha well.”
