Content: Kesha expresses her gratitude and appreciation for the overwhelming support she has received from her fans after recently resolving her long-standing legal dispute with Dr. Luke. In an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, July 27, the 36-year-old artist, known for her hit song "Praying," reflects on the past 9 years and acknowledges the unwavering support that has uplifted and guided her throughout this journey.
The California native excitedly hinted at her future plans, putting the drama behind her. "I am overflowing with joy and anticipation for the incredible things that lie ahead - the performances, the art that I will create and share with all of you," she expressed.
Concluding her message, Kesha addressed her devoted fans, declaring: "To my beloved fans, I don't require much, but there's one thing I can never let go. All I need is you" ️.
Kesha provided an update shortly after resolving her defamation lawsuit with the music producer. They have agreed to release a joint statement about the resolution, as mentioned in their Instagram posts on June 22nd. In her statement, the "Tik Tok" artist expressed her belief that only God knows what truly occurred that night. She acknowledged that she cannot recall every detail and expressed her desire to move on from this chapter of her life and start anew. She also wished peace to all involved parties.
Dr. Luke reiterated his innocence in his statement, expressing gratitude for Kesha acknowledging her inability to recall the events of that night in 2005. He asserted his certainty that nothing untoward occurred, vehemently denying the accusations of drugging or assaulting her, emphasizing that he would never harm anyone. Throughout the past decade, he has tirelessly fought to absolve his name, ensuring the well-being of his family. Now, he believes it is time to embrace closure and focus on moving forward. He concluded by conveying his genuine wishes for Kesha's well-being.
Since 2014, the duo has been engaged in a legal dispute stemming from an accusation made by Kesha against the songwriter. Kesha claimed that she was allegedly assaulted by the songwriter in 2005, waking up in Dr. Luke's bed feeling unwell and having no recollection of how she got there. In her lawsuit, she also asserted that Dr. Luke threatened to harm her professional career if she ever revealed the incident. In response, Dr. Luke denied Kesha's allegations and counter-sued for defamation, seeking $50 million in damages. However, Kesha decided to drop her lawsuit in August 2016 and refocus on her music career.
A trial date was set for July before the pair reached their settlement. Earlier this month, the New York Court of Appeals determined that Dr. Luke, being a "public figure," would be required to provide evidence of Kesha's "actual malice" or reckless disregard for the truth in her accusations.
