Kelly Clarkson opened up on her talk show about her challenging pregnancies before welcoming her two children.

During an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show on Monday, April 15, the 41-year-old singer shared that she had been pregnant twice and had to be hospitalized both times. She mentioned this while discussing the Arizona Supreme Court’s near-total abortion ban with guest Hillary Clinton. Clarkson revealed that she had prayed for herself and her son to be taken away during her second hospitalization because it was such a difficult experience. She became emotional while recounting this.

Clarkson, who has two children, River (9) and Remy (8), with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, became emotional during a conversation with Clinton, 76. Clinton comforted her by saying, “It’s OK, because you’re speaking for so many. You’re speaking for literally millions of women in our country and around the world.”

After regaining her composure, the singer of “Since U Been Gone” expressed that having her kids was her own decision and she is grateful that she made that choice.

She expressed her love for her babies, but also expressed her disapproval of Arizona's abortion ban. She found it difficult to comprehend taking away someone's choice, especially when it could be a matter of life and death. She mentioned the heartbreaking scenario of a person being raped by a family member and being forced to carry the baby to term, which she found shocking.

Clarkson has been vocal about her difficult pregnancies in the past.

During an interview with CBS This Morning in November 2015, she mentioned that she experienced all-day sickness during her pregnancy with Remy. It was so severe that she needed IVs and fluids to prevent dehydration.

After giving birth to her son, Clarkson revealed that she decided not to have any more children because of the difficult pregnancy she had experienced.

"I always feel bad for my friends who struggle to get pregnant. I often joke with them, saying, 'I have such tough pregnancies, I can't go through that again!'", she shared during an interview on KTU's Cubby and Carolina in the Morning in September 2017.

Despite facing challenges on her journey to becoming a parent, Clarkson finds immense joy in motherhood.

Being a mama is a truly special gift, filled with endless roles," she shared with viewers at Carters’ ShowHER Love virtual baby shower in June 2020. From being a friend and teacher to a support system and chef, the responsibilities are endless.

Despite acknowledging the stress that comes with parenting, Clarkson emphasized the immense rewards it brings.

You will feel inspired to do amazing things with your kids. Try new activities and experiences you've never tried before. Parenting is a wonderful journey, despite the challenges. It's not just about shaping their lives, but also about how they change and shape you as well.
