Kellan Lutz is amazed by the realism of special effects in movies, to the point where he thinks movie blood looks even better than the blood he witnessed during his wife Brittany Gonzales’ C-sections. In an exclusive interview with We, the 38-year-old actor discusses his role in the new film Due Justice, where his character Max seeks revenge for the deaths of his loved ones, using any means necessary. One particular scene involving a baseball bat left a lasting impression on the Twilight star, despite his experience with films featuring gruesome moments.

Lutz explains, "I've acted in many movies with blood, and they make it look incredibly real." He adds, "When I witnessed my wife undergo two C-sections, I observed my kids being born, and it just didn't look as realistic. Movie blood is much more convincing." Musing on the doctors, the father of two shares, "The doctors found it amusing, and my wife couldn't believe what I said." He continues, "I've seen so much movie blood that looks... they really do a fantastic job in movies these days!"

Fortunately, Gonzales found some humor in her husband's sense of humor during that time. "I've heard that some husbands faint [during delivery]," he joked. "She said, 'I'm glad you're here and I appreciate that you're keeping things light, even as you're fascinated by seeing my insides and the baby coming out.'"

For her part, Gonzales also shared about her C-section experience after giving birth to Kasen, revealing on her Instagram Story that "this time around, recovery has been much easier so far, so I'm praying it keeps going that way."

It’s been over a year since Lutz became a father, and he still finds the experience of bringing a child into the world absolutely amazing. “It’s mesmerizing and miraculous: the whole process of birth,” the Due Justice actor reveals. “The first time it happened… I mean, it’s just amazing to have a second opportunity to really, truly appreciate it.”

Lutz, who confesses that he "has always wanted to be a father," can't help but express his excitement about his children: "My daughter resembles me and behaves just like me, and my son resembles my wife and behaves just like her," he explains. "It's truly adorable."
