Kate Hudson is getting ready to kick off her music career. She recalls a moment when someone told her she was "too old" to pursue it. In an interview with CBS' Sunday Morning, the now 45-year-old actress shared that in her early 30s, someone said to her, "It's done, it's passed. You can't, you're too old." Hudson explained that for her, it wasn't just about performing, but also about writing music.
She mentioned that it resonated with her for a while, but then she decided to rebel and said, "No one tells me what to do."
Hudson is preparing to launch her first album, Glorious, on May 17. When questioned about her songwriting experience, the Almost Famous actress replied, "I've been writing songs poorly my whole life. I suppose I wasn't prepared for it until now."
"I feel ready to fully dive into my music now because I've reached a point where I no longer care about other people's opinions," she shared. "Whether it was my own doubts or fears of jeopardizing my acting career, it never felt authentic. But now, I'm just going for it."

Kate Hudson is the daughter of actress Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson from the 1970s band The Hudson Brothers. Music and songwriting are in her genes, with her father and the Hudson Brothers known for their musical talent. Despite this, Kate mentioned that she doesn't have a close relationship with her father.
Hawn and Bill got married in 1976 and have a son named Oliver Hudson, who was born just two months after they tied the knot. Unfortunately, the couple separated in 1980.
Hudson shared, "But it's like, you know, it's warming up. There's warming up with all of this happening. But it'll be whatever it will be, you know? I have no expectation of that with my father. I just want him to be happy."
Kate also mentioned that she will be going on tour along with the release of her album. She shared, "Playing live shows just feels normal to me. It's like they say, when you're ready to solo for the first time, you should be kicking the instructor out of the plane, like, 'Get out of here! I'm ready!' That's how I feel right now. I believe I'm ready to do it. Instead of fear, I feel pure excitement. It's an exhilarating feeling."
