Kara Killmer, aged 35, has concluded her nine-season tenure at the Chicago Fire ambulance bay. However, she will return for the twelfth and final season, reprising her character Sylvie Brett. This information has been confirmed by TVLine.

Killmer's character, a paramedic, made her first appearance on Chicago Fire in season 3. Since then, she has been featured in a total of 193 episodes of Fire and has also made numerous cameos on crossovers with Chicago Med and Chicago P.D.

Although Killmer has not publicly discussed her departure from the show, she recently took to Instagram on Thursday, November 16, to reflect on her time spent on the NBC series.

Killmer shared a photo carousel on Instagram, showcasing his initial experiences in Chicago. His first interaction with the Chicago Fire Department (CFD) was riding in the Squad 1 basket, where he encountered some of the country's finest firefighters. The view from his first apartment was breathtaking, marking the beginning of his love affair with the beautiful city of Chicago.

On the show, Brett has partnered with various individuals such as Gabby Dawson, Peter Mills, and Violet Mikami in Ambulance 61. Later, he was promoted to Paramedic in Charge. Brett also had an on-and-off relationship with firefighter Matt Casey, portrayed by Jesse Spencer. Spencer, aged 44, announced his departure from the show during the tenth season in 2021. However, he made a comeback for the season finale and continues to direct multiple episodes of the show.

During an exclusive interview with We in April 2022, Chicago Fire co-showrunner Andrea Newman expressed her adoration for the character and the actor, Spencer, who made a brief return to the show. Newman also shared that they were aware of Spencer's busy schedule and had concerns about his availability, but fortunately, he made himself accessible for this particular episode, which is truly wonderful. This highly-anticipated moment has been a long time coming.

Newman stated that they were always eager to have him and this episode was particularly unique. According to Haas, they were willing to do whatever it took to bring him on board and he happily agreed. Haas also mentioned that there was no assurance of Spencer making more appearances on Chicago Fire.

Spencer's Casey made a comeback in season 11 after Taylor Kinney's (Kelly Severide) temporary departure earlier this year. Us confirmed in October that Kinney, 42, will be returning for season 12. The premiere date for season 12 has not been disclosed yet.
