The Windy City will miss Kara Killmer from Chicago Fire, but she is grateful for her time on the show.

"Thank you for letting me play Sylvie for 10 years," Killmer, 35, shared on February 28. She expressed her gratitude to the first responders she worked with on the show.

The actress expressed her gratitude to her One Chicago family, sending love to the amazing cast and crew. Chicago will always hold a special place in her heart! @NBCOneChicago @WolfEnt.

In November 2023, it was confirmed that Killmer's time on the show would end after season 12. She first appeared on the series as a paramedic in season 3. Although Killmer didn't discuss her departure at the time, she hinted recently that her exit may not be permanent.

Killmer expressed to Entertainment Weekly before the farewell episode that the door is always open for him. He mentioned his willingness to return anytime. Killmer added that if Firehouse 51 finds itself in trouble and needs Sylvie to step in and provide guidance, he will be there.

Brett and Matt Casey (played by Jesse Spencer) finally tied the knot in a dramatic episode. Despite a few obstacles, such as Brett being held at gunpoint in a fish store, fans got to witness the couple say "I do."

After the emotional Brettsey wedding, the cast of Chicago Fire paid tribute to Killmer for her final episode.

Spencer, who left the firefighter drama after 10 seasons in 2021, expressed his gratitude for working with @karakillmer. He shared a photo of his return for the wedding episode and a picture of Killmer from her early seasons.

In his message, Spencer, aged 45, praised Killmer as a skilled professional and thanked her for the memorable moments they shared at the firehouse. He also wished her a happy wedding day and acknowledged that her presence will be missed.

The rest of the cast filmed a farewell video for Killmer, which was posted on the show's official Instagram account. In the video, David Eigenberg, known for his role as Christopher Hermann, expressed, "We're going to miss you so much, it's going to break our hearts." He then made a hand heart gesture on set with Daniel Kyri, who portrays Darren Ritter.

Kyri, 29, expressed, "We love you Kara." The camera then focused on Killmer's ambulance partner Hanako Greensmith, who plays Violet Mikami, and she said, "I love you, Kara."

Jake Lockett, who plays Sam Carver in season 11, described Kara as a "fellow Texan" and praised her for being "genuinely one of the nicest people I've ever met." He added, "We love you and we're excited for you."

Christian Stolte, who has portrayed Randall “Mouch” McHolland since the show's debut in 2012, also shared his admiration for Killmer.

"I really don't want to bid farewell to my dear, talented friend Kara Killmer," he expressed. "Working with you all these years has been a true blessing. I will definitely miss you."
