Joshua Jackson is bringing back memories of his character Pacey Witter in his audiobook narration of Julia Holiday's latest novel, and fans of Dawson's Creek are loving it.

The book titled Canadian Boyfriend, released in January, tells the story of Aurora Evans who meets the fake love interest she invented as a teenager. Following the release of the book, it was revealed that Jackson, 45, would be voicing the character of Mike Martin, while Emily Ellet would be voicing Aurora.

Jackson is no newcomer to narration, having lent his voice to over six audiobooks currently found online. Among these, his portrayal of Mike has captured the hearts of book enthusiasts, evoking memories of his time as Dawson Leery's loyal friend.

Although Mike's life story differs from Pacey's in being a single father and widower, they both share a sensitivity and charm that make them ideal male love interests. Additionally, Mike's profession as a hockey player pays tribute to Jackson's role in the 1992 film The Mighty Ducks.

"This feels like a full circle moment for me because he was my crush when I was younger," one person shared through X of the narration. Another person added, "I couldn't order [this] book fast enough today!"

Over on TikTok, fans were equally excited. One listener wrote, "As someone who reads Pacey Witter fanfics, having Joshua Jackson narrate is the best." Another fan exclaimed, "Oh my goodness, Joshua Jackson??? Pacey Witter, you have my heart!"

Have you heard Joshua Jackson as the voice of the ultimate book boyfriend? One person on Instagram couldn't contain their excitement, saying, "He's like the blueprint for the perfect boyfriend. Listen to the audiobook and you'll see what I mean."

After gaining recognition in The Mighty Ducks, Jackson landed the role of the witty and endearing Pacey Witter on Dawson's Creek in 1998. Initially introduced as Dawson's sidekick, the dynamic between the two friends shifted when they both fell for Joey Potter (played by Katie Holmes). When Joey ultimately chose Pacey in season 3, the duo quickly became a beloved pair among fans and forever altered the storyline.

"I was surprised by how many fans were rooting for Pacey and Joey to be together," shared creator Kevin Williamson with Entertainment Weekly in May 2022. "I always thought everyone was on Team Dawson and Joey. But when I decided to pair up Pacey and Joey, fans came out in support, saying 'Yes, they are meant to be together.'"

After Williamson left as showrunner following season 2, he made a comeback to pen the two-part series finale in 2003. In those final moments, he ultimately concluded that Pacey had captured the hearts of too many viewers to not end up with the girl.

Williamson joked about the choice being polarizing, even though he thought it would be extremely polarizing. The choice is revealed in the final scene of the show.

Jackson shared that the shift in narrative gave him a renewed sense of energy for work, especially since he had the opportunity to work with Holmes. (Jackson and Holmes were in a relationship during season 1 but broke up after a short romance.)

I was most excited about the episode where Katie and I were stuck in a Walmart after hours. It was just the two of us, referencing a season 6 episode where Joey and Pacey get locked in a store overnight. We had the opportunity to work on the script ahead of time and really have fun together. That's the one that really stands out in my memory.

As for Pacey getting his happily ever after with Joey, Jackson couldn't be happier with how the story turned out.

"He jokingly said, 'I am the advocate!' He had a conversation with Kevin Williamson about this. He expressed his opinion that having Dawson and Joey end up together may have been the original idea, but he believes that a different ending would be more interesting for the characters."
