Contrary to speculation, Fox denied that her relationship with West was a public relations ploy, coinciding with his divorce from Kardashian, 42. In a January 2022 episode of the "Forbidden Fruits" podcast, she dismissed the notion, stating, "There are always people who assume every celebrity scandal is orchestrated. Personally, I don't believe that. Right now, I'm simply embracing the present without any expectations or labels. It's just about two individuals who uplift each other."

In her book, the actress from Uncut Gems unveiled that she started doubting West's emotions when he started exerting control over her fashion choices, supposedly leaked photos from their outings, and requested her and her friends to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which they declined.

"We obediently follow his instructions, clumsily raise our arms and scream in excitement while he observes from afar, beaming with satisfaction," she stated. "While we strike manufactured poses, I ponder about his genuine motives, suspecting that this elaborate display is simply a ploy for publicity."
