Joy Behar shared her thoughts on Billy Baldwin's recent disagreement with Sharon Stone. During a recent episode of The View on Thursday, March 14, Behar, who is 81 years old, mentioned that people often seek attention and relevance. She commented on Baldwin's threat to expose some negative information about Stone, suggesting that Stone may have welcomed the opportunity to be back in the spotlight. Behar also humorously pointed out the common occurrence of ego clashes among actors.
The drama started when Sharon Stone, 66 years old, said during an episode of "The Louis Theroux Podcast" on Tuesday, March 12, that the late producer Robert Evans pressured her to have a romantic relationship with Alec Baldwin, 61, in order to improve his performance in their movie "Sliver" from 1993.
Stone claimed that Evans believed that if she and Baldwin had a real-life connection, it would translate well on screen and enhance their chemistry in the film.
Baldwin responded to Stone through X later that day. He wondered if the actress was bringing up the past because she still has feelings for him or because he rejected her advances. Baldwin also mentioned that he has a lot of information about Stone that would surprise her. Additionally, he shared his own version of a conversation he had with Evans before she passed away in 2019.
He wrote about the legendary meeting with Bob Evans, where he asked to choreograph the final sex scene to avoid kissing Sharon in the photo from Sliver. He also pondered on writing a book to share the many disturbing and unprofessional tales about Sharon, which he thought could be fun.
On Thursday, Behar expressed confusion over the situation, highlighting Evans' alleged logic that actors in The Godfather would have to behead a horse to accurately portray mobsters.
"It doesn’t make sense! It’s called acting," she joked.
Behar’s fellow panelists also raised doubts about Stone’s choice to revisit the story. Whoopi Goldberg questioned why Stone decided to "bring it up anyway," while Sunny Hostin asked, "Sharon, are you still upset 30 years later?"
Hostin, who is 55 years old, later explained that she believed Baldwin reacted strongly in his response.
Sara Haines also acknowledged that Baldwin's tweet was sharp and defensive, but she felt that Stone didn't need to single out Baldwin as the main issue with the film.
Stone discussed a conversation she had with the Sliver producer in her 2021 memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice. In the book, she did not mention Roberts or Baldwin by name.
In the memoir, she wrote about how the producer insisted on hiring an actor who struggled to perform during the test. Stone questioned the decision, suggesting that sleeping with him wouldn't improve his acting skills. She believed they should have chosen a co-star with talent who could deliver lines effectively.
Editor's P/S:
The recent drama between Sharon Stone and Billy Baldwin has sparked discussions about the complexities of relationships in the entertainment industry. Joy Behar's comments on The View highlight the attention-seeking behaviors that can arise when individuals feel their relevance fading. However, it's important to consider the underlying factors that may have contributed to the situation.
Stone's decision to revisit the incident with Robert Evans raises questions about her motivations. While she claims to be exposing unethical behavior, her timing and the fact that she has written about it in her memoir suggest that she may have other intentions. Baldwin's strong reaction, on the other hand, indicates that he feels personally attacked and is willing to defend his reputation. The situation underscores the delicate balance between maintaining privacy and addressing alleged misconduct, particularly in an industry where past actions can have lasting consequences.
