Joshua Jackson has responded to Jodie Turner-Smith's divorce filing by indicating a different date of separation. When Turner-Smith filed for divorce in October, she stated that they had separated on September 13. Jackson, in his response filed on November 22, cited the date of separation as September 30.
Jackson and Turner-Smith have both cited "irreconcilable differences" as the cause of their breakup and have requested joint legal and physical custody of their 3-year-old daughter. Jackson is also requesting that the court terminate the ability for either party to pay child support, and is asking that they both pay for their attorneys' fees. This response follows Turner-Smith's original and amended motion, the latter of which was refiled to correct their legal names and remove her request for Jackson to pay for her attorney's costs.
Jackson and Turner-Smith tied the knot in August 2019. Rumors of a split began in September 2022 when sharp-eyed social media users noticed that the actors had unfollowed each other on Instagram, despite recently appearing together in an ad campaign. However, they eventually followed each other again before Turner-Smith filed for divorce.

Last month, an insider told Us that she refused to accept something that didn't feel right. "It wasn't working for her, so she decided to make a clean break," the source said.
A second source informed Us that Jackson was taken by surprise by her decision. "They had their fair share of problems, as many couples do - especially two busy actors juggling parenthood," the insider commented. "Joshua clearly didn't realize how serious the situation was, and how unhappy Jodie had become."

According to the second source, the couple's friends were surprised by the split, as Jackson and Turner-Smith had been very close since the beginning of their relationship. The insider added that everyone is puzzled by the breakup, as they had seemed very devoted to each other, especially since welcoming Juno into their lives was a major change for both of them. After the divorce was made public, Jackson was seen with Lupita Nyong’o and a group of friends at Janelle Monae’s concert in Inglewood, California. It is uncertain whether he is dating the 40-year-old actress, who recently ended her relationship with Selema Masekela.
