Jonathan Majors sat down for his first interview since being convicted of assault and harassment.

During a segment on Good Morning America, Majors, 34, spoke with ABC News anchor Linsey Davison, sharing that he felt it was time to share his side of the story due to the events in his personal life, career, and the culture. "It's about responsibility and coming forward and being brave and giving my part of the story," he expressed. This interview occurred just nearly a month after he was found guilty of assault in the third degree and harassment in December 2023. The jury also acquitted him of aggravated harassment in the second degree. Majors is set to be sentenced on February 6.

Majors said he was taken aback and afraid when he heard about the trial's verdict. He questioned how it could be possible based on the evidence presented by the prosecution and his own evidence. Majors went on trial in December 2023, nine months after being arrested for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, a 31-year-old British dancer. She testified that their relationship turned abusive after meeting on the set of Marvel's 2023 film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where Majors starred as Kang the Conqueror.

Jabbari claimed during the trial that Majors attacked her in a vehicle after she took his phone to see a text from another woman. She reportedly suffered a fractured finger and cut behind the ear. Majors called 911 the next day and Jabbari was found unconscious in his New York City penthouse, leading to his arrest. Majors stated that he is certain he did not cause Jabbari's injuries and wishes to know how they happened for clarity and peace of mind.

Majors stated that his current girlfriend, Meagan Good, supported him and attended the hearings, claiming that he suffered cuts and scratches to his hands and cheek during the incident. The prosecution presented a video of the alleged assault during the trial, showing Majors running away from his ex after trying to put her back in the vehicle. He expressed concern that if the roles were reversed and a Black man was seen chasing a young white girl down the street while she screamed and cried, he would be shot and killed in the streets of New York City, saying "That Black man will feel that."

During the trial, prosecutors also mentioned a prior altercation between Majors and Jabbari, in which Majors reportedly knocked over a glass candle and criticized Jabbari for discussing a previous partner. He then refused to speak to her while she was at a music festival.

Majors remembered the incident, saying, "I completely lost my temper in that moment and threw it all on the ground. That's not something I would want my child to do, and I did that. I absolutely did that and feel terrible about it."

In another court video, Majors referred to himself as "a great man" and expressed his desire for his partner to be comparable to Coretta Scott King and Michelle Obama in their support of their respective partners, Martin Luther King Jr. and former president Barack Obama. Majors clarified his statement by explaining that he was aspiring to be like these great men and was asking for his partner, Grace, to make the same sacrifices that he was making.

While awaiting his sentencing, Majors continues to profess his innocence, expressing regret for his actions and taking responsibility for his role in the situation. He filed a domestic violence counter-complaint against Jabbari before the trial, and she was later arrested on charges of assault and criminal mischief after an alleged domestic dispute. However, she was released without being charged shortly after her arrest.

Ever since the incident, Majors has seen a significant downturn in his career. Prior to his trial, he was released from his talent manager, his U.S. Army ad campaign was put on hold, and his invitation to the Met Gala was revoked. Majors was also being positioned as the next major antagonist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Previously, he had a recurring role in the Disney+ series Loki, portraying He Who Remains in season 1 and Victor Timely in season 2.
