Jonathan Majors' accuser, Grace Jabbari, was arrested on charges of assault and criminal mischief following their reported domestic dispute. Jabbari, aged 30, was taken into custody on Wednesday, October 25, after Majors, aged 34, had previously lodged a counter-complaint for domestic violence. She was released with a desk appearance ticket, obligating her to appear in court on a later date. No charges in relation to the incident are currently being pursued against her.
"The case against Grace Jabbari has been officially declined by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office due to lack of prosecutorial merit. According to a spokesperson, the matter is now closed and sealed." Jabbari's lawyer, Ross Kramer, expressed disappointment that his client had been arrested despite prosecutors deeming it unwarranted. Kramer stated that the district attorney's office reviewed the evidence and concluded that Jabbari was the victim, not the perpetrator. Therefore, forcing Jabbari's arrest was deemed unfortunate and re-traumatizing.
The case gained media attention when Majors was taken into custody in March after an alleged incident of domestic violence. The New York Police Department stated that their report identified the actor as the primary instigator.
According to a spokesperson for the authorities, preliminary findings indicate that a 33-year-old man was engaged in a domestic altercation with a 30-year-old woman. The victim reported being assaulted, leading officers to apprehend the man without any resistance. The victim suffered minor injuries to her head and neck, and was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Majors was released from police custody several hours later and has since steadfastly denied the allegations. Following his arrest, Majors was brought before the court and officially charged with assault and harassment. In June, he retaliated by filing a countersuit against his alleged victim, Jabbari, alleging that she had caused him pain and made him bleed during the supposed incident in March.
In his legal submission, Majors admitted to physically restraining Jabbari by grabbing her and placing her inside the vehicle they were traveling in. However, he contended that he did so in an effort to shield her from the imminent traffic.
Following his legal issues, the Marvel actor faced the consequences of being abandoned by his talent manager and PR firm. However, Majors found solace and support in his girlfriend, Meagan Good, who has been steadfastly standing by his side during numerous court hearings since they publicly appeared together in August.
Coinciding with Jabbari's arrest and subsequent release, a New York judge rejected the motion to dismiss the case against Majors on the very same day. Consequently, a new trial date has been scheduled for November 29.
