Paul Rudd is one of the co-owners of a candy shop in Rhinebeck, New York. According to the store's manager, John Traver, he is a wonderful boss who is always friendly and kind. Paul takes the time to talk to his staff, learn their names, ask about their lives, and even share details about his own life, like showing pictures from the Super Bowl or discussing what's going on with their house or pets.
Rudd, 54, is very passionate about the store and the town of Rhinebeck, where he and his wife Julie Yaeger own a home. According to Traver, Rudd considers Rhinebeck his home in many ways.
Traver mentions that Rudd loves the store and values the sense of community and grounding it provides. He is highly supportive of their efforts and gives them the freedom and autonomy to ensure a successful and enjoyable experience for customers in the community.

Samuel’s Sweet Shop was on the brink of closing in 2014 after the original owner, Ira Gutner, passed away. However, loyal customers Rudd, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Hilarie Burton Morgan, and actor Andy Ostroy stepped in to save the small business by buying it.
In a 2019 interview with The Poughkeepsie Journal, Rudd shared what he adores about the shop.
Walking into a candy store can instantly lift your spirits. It's hard to stay in a bad mood surrounded by all those sweet treats. Unless, of course, you happen to stub your toe on the gumball machine.
"One of the greatest joys in life is feeling connected to your community and the people around you," he explained. "Especially in a job like mine, where building those connections is so important."

Mary, the owner of Willow Wood boutique next to Samuel's, agrees that Rudd brings good vibes to the Rhinebeck community. She describes him as a kind and generous man who fits in well with the locals.
Mary points out that Rudd, along with Morgan and Burton Morgan, who have been married since 2019, contributes more to the community than he benefits from it.
According to Mary, Rudd does not exhibit any star behavior. She describes him as humble and more reserved than his public image as a movie star. Mary feels that Rudd is relatable and down-to-earth like the rest of us.
