John Cena showed his commitment to the joke by appearing nearly naked while presenting an award at the 2024 Oscars. Before handing out the trophy for best costume design on Sunday, March 10, host Jimmy Kimmel brought Cena on stage for a skit that didn't go as expected.

"Tonight marks the 50th anniversary of one of the wildest moments in Oscars history. It was during the 46th Academy Awards in 1974 when David Niven was on stage introducing Elizabeth Taylor, and suddenly, a streaker - a nude man - dashed across the stage," shared Kimmel, 56. "Just imagine if that happened today! Wouldn't that be something?"

As the cameras shifted to Cena, 46, he was spotted hiding behind the set design. Kimmel jokingly questioned why Cena didn't join in on the streaking fun. Cena simply replied that he had a change of heart about participating in their planned stunt.

"I'm not comfortable with that. This event is classy, and I think you should reconsider your suggestion," Cena remarked. "We shouldn't make fun of the male body."

Kimmel asked Cena about his concerns because of his wrestling background. Cena replied, "I don't wrestle naked, I wrestle in jorts." Kimmel then teased him, saying, "Jorts are even worse than being naked. Are you really not going to do this? Fine, just announce the award then. You're the worst."

Cena walked towards the podium with just an envelope covering his private area.

He jokingly mentioned the importance of costumes, stating that they are crucial. The audience laughed as he expressed his difficulty in opening the envelope. Cena then asked for assistance, “Can anybody help me?”

During the screening of the nominated films, Kimmel assisted Cena with his cover-up. Following Poor Things' win, fans went online to commend Cena for his role in the skit.
