Jessica Alba announced on Instagram that she is stepping down from the company she founded and has lovingly referred to as "my baby" for the past 12 years.
Her decision has surprised many of her fans and followers of the lifestyle brand.
With a grateful heart, I am stepping down from my role as Chief Creative Officer at The Honest Company, twelve years after its founding. In an open letter on Tuesday, April 9, I shared this news.
Even though this decision was not easy, I will still be offering strategic advice as a member of the board. I have full confidence in our leadership team, led by Carla Vernón, to carry forward our original vision and continue to make a positive impact in the industry.
"Creating Honest has been a real passion project," she shared. "Starting from when I first shared the idea with my friends in Mommy and Me class, to the incredible moment of ringing the bell at Nasdaq surrounded by my family - this journey has truly been a dream come true, beyond what I ever imagined."

Alba, who went on to thank her management team, concluded with a shout out to the loyal supporters of the brand.
"I am eternally thankful to our Honest families," she expressed. "Your stories, photos of baby showers, monthly milestones, daily routines, and everything else in between, are truly heartwarming. Please continue to share these moments with us because you are the foundation of our existence. Thank you for proving that a woman taking a unique business journey can make a positive impact."
The Honest Company's value stood at $363 million as of April 5, 2024.
Fans took to the comment section to express their thoughts on the announcement. One person wrote: “I hope things don’t change without you leading the way. I really adore that brand.” Another fan commented: “Why are you leaving? You are the reason we are so fond of it lol.” A third individual added: “I'm quite surprised by this news. You were the reason we had faith in the company. It might become too corporate now, but best of luck with your other projects!”
Alba, who is a mother to daughters Honor Haven and Haven, aged 15 and 12, and son Hayes, aged 6, with her husband Cash Warren, has previously discussed the importance of spending more quality time with her children.
She also shared that she wanted to improve her relationship with her daughter, Honor, who was around 11 years old at the time. They were constantly arguing over trivial matters, and she realized that she didn't want their interactions to be filled with tension.
Alba confessed that she didn't want any tension between herself and her daughter. She realized that when she speaks, her daughter may interpret it as an argument or an attempt to control her. Alba felt the need for someone who could communicate things differently than she could. During therapy, hearing Honor's point of view helped Alba reflect on her own actions.
