Jessica Alba shared with We that she is thrilled to be making a comeback to the big screen after dedicating over ten years to her Honest Company brand.
We caught up with Alba, who is 43 years old, at the Monster Jam World Finals XXIII at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 18. Accompanied by her three children, Alba discussed her surprising choice to step down from her position as chief creative officer at the beauty and baby company. Despite this change, Alba is looking forward to a new phase in her acting career.
After 12 years, Jessica Alba decided it was time to re-enter the entertainment industry and explore new creative opportunities. She shared with Us that she had stepped away from the brand she had founded to pursue these new ventures. One of her upcoming projects is a movie called Trigger Warning, set to be released on June 21st on Netflix. Alba not only acts in the film but also serves as an executive producer, showcasing her excitement for this action-packed movie.
Trigger Warning will be Alba's first movie since 2019. In this film, she takes on the role of a Special Forces commando who returns to her hometown to investigate the mysterious death of her father. This marks a significant return to the big screen for Alba and showcases her versatility as an actress in a thrilling storyline.
After announcing her resignation from Honest last month on Instagram, Jessica Alba is gearing up for her first major release. The idea for the company came to her in 2008 when she experienced an allergic reaction to laundry detergent while pregnant with her first child, Honor. It took four years from the initial concept to the launch of Honest in 2012. Alba and her husband Cash Warren, who tied the knot in 2008, are parents to three children - Honor, 15, Haven, 12, and Hayes, 6. The online-only shop started with just seven products available for purchase.

The brand's scope and value skyrocketed, leading to Alba making it to Forbes' list of richest self-made women in 2016. This success was mainly attributed to her 20 percent stake in the company.
The brand faced controversy in its early years. Gwyneth Paltrow criticized Honest, suggesting that the products were more about marketing than actual safe cleaning. The Wall Street Journal accused the brand of using an ingredient it had promised to avoid in its laundry detergent. Honest also dealt with lawsuits over labeling claims of natural and organic content. Despite this, the company denied the charges and settled a labeling lawsuit in 2017.
In her recent resignation announcement, Alba did not mention these past incidents. She described the company as a "labor of love" and stated that she will continue serving on the board while stepping back from daily operations.
"From sharing my first concept book with my friends in Mommy and Me class, to standing alongside my family and ringing the bell at Nasdaq – this journey has truly been a dream come true," she shared with excitement.
