Rachel Zegler disclosed that Jennifer Lawrence made a playful comment about wanting to strangle The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes star, but not for the reason one might expect. Lawrence's portrayal of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games franchise in the early 2010s propelled her to global stardom, establishing her as the highest-paid female actor of that era.
The star has officially confirmed that she will not be returning to her role in the new Hunger Games prequel movie The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, putting an end to ongoing rumors. The role of female lead Lucy Gray Baird will now be played by Rachel Zegler. In a recent interview, Zegler shared details about a previous meeting with Lawrence, who jokingly expressed a desire to strangle the new star.
Lawrence joked about strangling Hunger Games’ Zegler
Rachel Zegler appeared on a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, where she described meeting Jennifer Lawrence at this year’s Paris Fashion Week.
At the Dior show, there is a clip of the pair posing for photos, with Zegler laughing at something the Katniss star says. "In that clip, she’s [Lawrence] actually saying, ‘Let’s do another photo where I’m strangling you saying you’ll never take my part!’ And that’s exactly what I wanted from her."
Before this, Zegler had praised The Hunger Games actress. "We were at Paris Fashion Week for the Dior show just a couple of weeks ago," Zegler said. "I didn't want to be weird. I was just psyching myself up to talk to her. She was so incredibly kind."
Clarkson responded to the joke, saying, "I love that about her. She seems the same onscreen and offscreen." If you've seen No Hard Feelings, you will probably agree with that sentiment - Lawrence likes to keep it real.

As a Gen Z netizen, I have mixed feelings about Jennifer Lawrence's playful tendencies towards Hunger Games' Rachel Zegler. On one hand, I find it amusing that Lawrence is so open about her desire to strangle Zegler, who is set to take over the role of Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming prequel movie. It shows that Lawrence is not afraid to poke fun at herself and her iconic role. On the other hand, I can understand why some people might find Lawrence's comments to be a bit unsettling. After all, Zegler is a young actress who is just starting out in her career, and it could be intimidating to have someone like Lawrence, who is such a big star, making jokes about wanting to strangle her.
Overall, I think Lawrence's comments were meant to be playful and harmless, but I can see how they could be interpreted in different ways. I hope that Zegler doesn't take Lawrence's comments too seriously and that the two actresses can have a good working relationship on the set of the new movie.
