Jenna Dewan reminisced about her daughter Everly's candid response to watching her and Channing Tatum in Step Up. According to Dewan, the 10-year-old's initial reaction was less than enthusiastic as she asked if they could watch something more enjoyable instead.
She recalled introducing her daughter, Everly "Evie," to the movie at a very young age while promoting her collaboration with Mother's Cookies for their Stop and Taste the Frosting initiative.
According to Dewan, her oldest child has yet to show much interest in watching the 2006 movie that brought her and Tatum together in real life. Despite her efforts, the child remains unimpressed by the film and simply responds with a nonchalant "OK, yeah." Dewan remains hopeful that her child will eventually come to appreciate the movie and its significance.
After playing love interests in the popular dance movie, the Rookie star and the Alabama native fell in love and eventually got married in July 2009. Their daughter, Everly, was born in May 2013. However, the couple announced their separation in April 2018 and were officially declared single in November of the following year. Following their split, the Witches of East End alum found love again with Steve Kazee in the fall of 2018. The couple got engaged in February 2020 and now share a 3-year-old son named Callum.
Despite not being a big fan of Step Up, Everly has a great love for dancing. According to Dewan, her daughter is incredibly passionate about Celtic Irish dancing and works hard to get better at it. Everly consistently expresses her desire for more dance classes and opportunities to dance. Dewan describes her daughter's passion for dancing as "effervescent." As for competitions, Dewan admits to being a full-on dance mom, screaming and jumping with excitement when Everly took home first place at a recent "feisenna."
Although the mother and daughter share a passion, the Superman & Lois star disclosed that Everly doesn't seek her advice on the matter. Instead, Everly desires her mother's support and presence as a loving parent. When Everly seeks feedback, Jenna offers her honest thoughts, highlighting the importance of the learning process and encouraging her daughter not to worry about minor mistakes.
The couple enjoys cooking together and often incorporates Mother’s Cookies into their recipes. The kitchen is a gathering place for everyone in the house, so cooking and creativity have always been important to them, especially during holidays, birthdays, and the end of the school year. They plan to celebrate National Frosted Cookie Day on June 10 with something special for themselves and their children, in honor of Mother’s Cookies’ Stop and Taste the Frosting campaign, which encourages parents to have fun with their kids all summer long.
"My all-time favorite cookies have to be a combination of Rice Krispie treats and Mother's Cookies," shared the Soundtrack alum with Us. "It's a fun activity to do with my kids, and we can add in different elements to make it even more enjoyable. The idea of incorporating Mother's Cookies into Rice Krispie treats has me excited - it might just be the most delicious treat ever! Baking and creating sweet treats is always a great activity for us."
