Jenna Dewan Pays Tribute to Her Beloved Dog Meeka Amid Pregnancy: A Bond Stronger Than Time

Jenna Dewan is honoring her dear 18-year-old dog, Meeka, who has passed away.

"Yesterday, I had to say goodbye to my first baby, Meeka, as she crossed over the rainbow bridge," Dewan, 43, shared on Instagram on Wednesday, May 29. "I was aware that this day would come, but it still feels so unreal to be writing about it."

Dewan shared that her beloved pup, Meeka, has been with her through many stages of her life. From welcoming her daughter Everly with ex-husband Channing Tatum to having son Callum with fiancé Steve Kazee, Meeka has been a constant companion.

She expressed her gratitude for Meeka being by her side during travels around the world and even through a global pandemic quarantine postpartum with Callum. Despite not being a fan of kids initially, Meeka became a queen diva in the household, silently ruling the roost. Dewan emphasized how much she will miss Meeka and the immense gift she was in her life. She finds solace in feeling Meeka's presence even after she's gone.

Dewan shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing her love for her beloved pet Meeka. Along with her message, she posted a collection of photos and videos capturing special moments with Meeka over the years. One photo showed Meeka watching over a newborn Callum protectively.

The carousel also included images of Meeka dressed up in a Supergirl costume for Halloween with Dewan's daughter Everly, as well as a clip of Dewan posing for a photoshoot with all her family pets. Dewan ended her message by thanking Meeka for a peaceful passing, mentioning how even in her last moments, Meeka knew just what Dewan needed. Though Dewan's heart was broken to lose Meeka physically, she expressed belief that Meeka would always be watching over them, especially as they welcomed a new soul.

Dewan had to bid farewell to one member of her family, but now she is getting ready to welcome another. The Rookie actress revealed her third pregnancy on Instagram in January by posting a video of herself in the bathtub while Kazee played the guitar.

In the caption of the clip, she joked, “Do you think if I have @stevekazee sing to me every night, the baby will inherit his singing voice?”

Kazee expressed his joy in the comments section, saying, "I'd have a million babies with you!" Other celebrities like Nina Dobrev, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Sharna Burgess also congratulated the couple.

We confirmed Dewan and Kazee's relationship in October 2018, just six months after her split from Tatum. They got engaged in February 2020 and welcomed their son, Callum, later that year. While they are thrilled about expanding their family, they are not in a rush to get married.

"My family keeps asking, 'When will we have another baby?' We're getting there, I promise," Dewan shared exclusively with Us in June 2023. "We have at least chosen the location, so we've made progress. But life has been really busy, and work has been keeping us occupied."

On top of preparing for baby No. 3, Dewan is also busy working on her popular show, The Rookie. She mentioned to Romper in January that going to work has actually been beneficial for her during this pregnancy journey.

During a January interview, she expressed her excitement about entering the second trimester and feeling alive again. She mentioned her plan to keep filming episodes of the show during her pregnancy. Working on "The Rookie" has been a source of joy and balance for her.
