Jason Oppenheim reveals why watching Marie-Lou Nurk and Chrishell Stause’s scenes on 'Selling Sunset' was incredibly challenging for him

Jason Oppenheim did not relish being in the midst of the dramatic encounters between his former partners on Selling Sunset season 7. Speaking exclusively to We while promoting the latest season of the Netflix series, the 46-year-old real estate agent admitted that watching the scenes involving his then-girlfriend, Marie Lou Nurk, and Chrishell Stause was particularly challenging and left him feeling uneasy.

The new season, which started streaming on Friday, November 3, included a heated lunch between Marie-Lou, 25, and Chrishell, 42.

Marie-Lou tearfully confessed to Jason over the phone, with Chrishell present, that she doesn't wish to maintain their friendship and accused her of being envious.

Chrishell defended herself, stating, "I never insinuated any jealousy from you, those words were never spoken by me."

The situation worsened when Marie-Lou started referring to Chrishell's partner, G Flip, using the incorrect she/her pronouns instead of their preferred nonbinary they/them pronouns.

"My partner identifies as nonbinary and prefers they/them pronouns," Chrishell stated. "It's a basic aspect of our relationship. But what concerns me is that you don't even know their pronouns, which is okay, but it also means that you don't really know me. I don't think we can be friends because we have nothing in common. This conversation feels like a waste of time."

Jason expressed his discomfort when Marie-Lou contacted him while she was having lunch with Chrishell.

Jason shared that his response to witnessing the incident mirrored his initial reaction, evoking intense discomfort and a sense of reliving a traumatic event. He expressed feeling caught in a difficult position and emphasized the significant impact the situation had on both of his relationships, describing it as a catalyst for real-life challenges.

In terms of Jason's personal life, he and Chrishell were involved in a romantic relationship from July 2021 to December 2021. Subsequently, Jason embarked on a new journey with Marie-Lou in July 2022, but their relationship concluded in May following the completion of filming for season 7.

Jason shared that despite some drama, he has established a positive relationship with both Chrishell and Marie-Lou. According to him, he and Chrishell are on excellent terms and even exchanged texts earlier that day. He also mentioned receiving messages from Marie-Lou while they were speaking, indicating that their rapport remains intact. Although their communication has decreased slightly due to Marie-Lou's residence in Paris, they still maintain occasional text conversations.

Selling Sunset is now streaming on Netflix.
