Travis Kelce tried to clarify his controversial beer chug incident, but his brother Jason Kelce brought up a different reason for people to be upset.
On his "New Heights" podcast episode on Wednesday, April 17, Travis, 34, talked about the backlash he received for chugging a beer during a spontaneous graduation ceremony at their old school.
Travis shared how he and his friend Jason celebrated the end of the night in a truly epic way. Both had previously graduated from the University of Cincinnati and since they didn't get to walk during their graduation ceremonies, they decided to have their own little celebration. Travis made it clear that even though they already had their degrees, it wasn't a formal graduation ceremony. It was just a fun way to end the night.
During the informal event, Travis ended up chugging a beer. He explained that the reason for this was simply because he had a beer in his hand when he needed to receive his diploma. He had to find a way to get rid of the beer, so he decided to just finish it. To his surprise, the beer happened to be full, and he couldn't explain how that happened.
However, Jason noticed that Travis had not completely finished his drink. He pointed out that there was still beer coming out of the cup. Travis then explained that only foam was left in the cup.

The siblings subsequently got into a disagreement over whether Travis completed his beer chug.
Jason jokingly commented that the only thing to be upset about was that the chug was not successfully completed. Travis disagreed, claiming that he did finish it and teasing Jason for being too scared to support him.
Jason insisted that Travis had not finished his drink, teasing him that people would be less upset if he had. He pointed out that if there was a lot of foam coming out of the can, it couldn't be considered a complete chug.
Travis responded by saying he could chug faster than his brother. He reassured fans that they shouldn't be upset because the situation wasn't a big deal.

Earlier this month, Jason defended Travis’ behavior after it made headlines. He explained that the incident was actually at the end of a podcast event to raise money for the University's NIL. The university had playfully teased Jason and his brother for not picking up their diplomas.
Jason is also known for shotgunning beer. During Travis’ Kansas City Chiefs playoff game in January, Jason showed his excitement by taking off his shirt and climbing out of the suite.
"It was truly one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had, from beginning to end. The atmosphere in Buffalo with the Bills Mafia was simply electric," he shared on their podcast in January. "It was a chance to escape from everything and just have a great time supporting my brother."
At that time, Jason mentioned that the plan had always been to celebrate the Chiefs' victory in a grand way.
I wanted to go outside early and take my shirt off. I feel like it's a Buffalo Bills thing, right? I wanted the full experience, so I wanted to take everything off and be out there with the fans. At this tailgate, I felt like I was possessed by Bills Mafia.

The Kelce brothers' antics, while amusing to some, have sparked a debate about the appropriateness of chugging beer in public settings. While Travis Kelce insists that his actions were harmless and in the spirit of celebration, his brother Jason raises the issue of unfinished business. The incident highlights the differing perspectives on alcohol consumption and the potential for misunderstandings when it comes to completing a chug.
Moreover, Jason Kelce's comments about his own beer-related behavior, such as shotgunning a beer during his brother's playoff game, add another layer to the discussion. It suggests that the Kelce brothers may have a more relaxed attitude towards alcohol consumption than some members of the public, and that their actions may not be representative of the broader societal norms around drinking.
