Santa Claus is making his way into town in the Philadelphia Eagles' yearly holiday album, and Jason Kelce acknowledges that the inclusion of his brother Travis Kelce enhances the overall experience. "Despite being rivals, you're still a member of the family," shared Jason, 35, on the November 3 episode of their podcast "New Heights." "In an extended capacity."
Jason disclosed that he and Travis had a revamped rendition of "Fairy Tale of New York" by The Pogues. The Eagles' member highlighted that they altered the lyrics to create "Fairy Tale of Philadelphia."
Jordan Mailata, a podcast guest and Jason's teammate in the Eagles, added that he was unaware of Travis, 34, possessing musical abilities.
"Trav is superior to me in every aspect, even in singing," Jason jokingly remarked. "And we'll discover that very soon."
Mailata, 26, greatly admired Travis' "distinctive and melodious voice" on the track.
Travis expressed his excitement to hear the revised version of the new Philly Christmas album from the Eagles. He admitted that he hadn't even listened to his own part yet, emphasizing that he prefers a more rock 'n' roll voice for his singing. The debut album from the Eagles, released during the previous holiday season, successfully raised over $1.25 million for local nonprofit organizations. Jason and several of his teammates, including Mailata, Jalen Hurts, and Lane Johnson, contributed their unique interpretations of classic Christmas songs.
An Extraordinary Christmas Special in Philly
Following the enormous success of their debut record, Kelce, Johnson, 33, and Mailata have come together once again to produce an exceptional sophomore album, titled "An Extraordinary Christmas Special in Philly." This upcoming LP, which is currently available for preorder, showcases 11 delightful holiday tunes. Moreover, it promises captivating duets with renowned artists such as Patti LaBelle, Amos Lee, Eric Bazilian, and Rob Hyman from The Hooters, as well as talented members from The War on Drugs and The Silver Ages Choir.
"I wouldn't claim sole credit, my friend. Each of us contributed to the album," Mailata expressed during a recent episode of the "New Heights" podcast. "I certainly lent my vocals to many of the songs, but once again... it was a collective effort."
The vinyl record for A Philly Special Christmas Special also reveals that it includes an exclusive track called "Santa's Night," written by none other than Jason Kelce himself.
Travis has not yet listened to A Philly Special Christmas Special, but Jason's three daughters are already big fans of the LP, gushed Jason to Today last month. They sing along and love the songs. Last Christmas, Wyatt always asked me to play 'Santa Claus is Coming To Town.' They are all really into it.
A Philly Special Christmas Special drops on Friday, December 1.
