Jared Harris doesn't think the royals should be upset about The Crown and even believes that they could see it as positive publicity. He stated during an appearance on BBC's Today via Deadline that it could be seen as an opportunity to humanize the royal family.
Multiple members of royalty have admitted to enjoying watching The Crown in recent years. In 2017, Princess Eugenie confessed to watching “a couple of episodes” and shared her admiration for the show's filming, music, and story. She expressed feeling a sense of pride while watching it.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have also stated that they watch the Emmy-winning TV show — but the Duke of Sussex stressed that it is fictionalized.

Harry, who is now 39, stated on The Late Late Show With James Corden in February 2021, "They don't pretend to be news. It's fiction. ... But it's loosely based on the truth. It gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle, what the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that. I'm way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing the stories written about my family, or my wife, or myself." However, not everyone shares his sentiment. Last year, Lady Anne Glenconner, a longtime friend of Queen Elizabeth II, criticized the series.
In a November 2022 interview on BBC Radio 4's "Women's Hour," 91-year-old Lady Glenconner expressed her frustration with the widespread belief in the inaccuracies portrayed in the Netflix series "The Crown." She stated that she no longer watches the show as it makes her angry and she believes it unfairly represents the royal family. Lady Glenconner dismissed the series as a "complete fantasy" rather than a truthful biographical drama.

Emma Corrin, who portrayed Princess Diana in seasons 3 and 4, expressed her preference not to dwell on the possibility of the royals watching. "It's really interesting," Corrin, 27, shared with TheWrap in June 2021. "Personally, I try to avoid getting involved with it because I believe it's a slippery slope. If I start worrying about who's seen it and what they think, it becomes stressful."
The last episodes of The Crown are scheduled to premiere on Netflix on December 14.
