His brother Gabriel Brown found Garrison's body at home and immediately contacted the Flagstaff Police Department. The authorities are currently investigating the incident as a possible suicide with no signs of foul play suspected.
Apart from Garrison and Gabriel, Janelle and Kody have children named Logan, Madison, Hunter, and Savanah. It is worth noting that Janelle officially ended her spiritual marriage to Kody in December 2022.
Garrison moved into his own home in 2021 after a disagreement with his father regarding the strict COVID-19 restrictions his father, Kody, was implementing for their large family. The tension between Kody and his sons, Garrison and Gabriel, escalated when Kody insisted that they apologize if they wanted to mend their relationship with him.
During season 18 of Sister Wives, filmed in early 2022, Gabriel shared that he and Garrison were in conflict with their father. Gabriel expressed his frustration at the lack of communication from his father when they raised concerns about the COVID-19 situation. This lack of dialogue was a major factor in driving a wedge between them.

Janelle expressed concern about Gabriel and Garrison's mental well-being. She mentioned that Gabriel is very sensitive and tends to keep his feelings to himself. On the other hand, Garrison appears to be more irritable or downcast compared to his usual cheerful self.
Janelle mentioned in a December 2023 episode of Sister Wives that there had been "no reconciliation" between Kody and their sons.
She attributed the strain in her marriage to Kody to the family drama they had been experiencing. Kody's marriages to Christine and Meri came to an end in 2021 and 2022, respectively, while he remains married to his fourth wife, Robyn Brown.
Janelle shared that she had to make a difficult choice between having her boys at home or having Kody around. When Kody visited, the boys had to leave the house. She had to disinfect everything with Lysol because Kody was very scared of catching the virus from them. This situation caused a lot of stress for Janelle and the family. As time went on, the boys started to become more and more upset with each other.
Even though she felt angry towards Kody, the family matriarch expressed her hope that with time, Kody's relationships with his sons would improve. In an interview with E! News in November 2023, she mentioned that she was optimistic that Kody could eventually rebuild his bond with the children he is currently estranged from.
