Jamie Foxx is set to reveal more about his medical emergency in April 2023 during his next stand-up comedy special.
During the African American Film Critics Association’s Producers Award ceremony on March 3, Foxx, 56, expressed gratitude and became emotional. He mentioned how some important people in his life made sure he survived the dire situation.
Foxx has revealed that he will share the details of his recent medical complication in a new stand-up special, although the release date is still to be announced.
In addition to his stand-up comeback, Foxx will also be returning as the host of the musical game show Beat Shazam. He had taken a break last season to focus on his health. Joining him on the show as cohost DJ will be his daughter Corinne Foxx. The father-daughter duo has been hosting the show together since 2017. (Jamie is the father of Corinne, 30, with ex Connie Kline, and Anelise, 15, with ex Kristin Grannis.)
"Jamie and Corinne are the heart and soul of Beat Shazam," said Allison Wallach, president of Fox Entertainment unscripted. "As our dynamic father-daughter hosting team, they bring a unique relationship to the show, and we're thrilled to have them back this season."
In April 2023, Corinne shared that her father had experienced a medical issue.
My father, Jamie Foxx, had a medical complication yesterday. Thanks to prompt action and excellent care, he is already recovering. We are grateful for your prayers and ask for privacy during this time.
According to a source, nearly three months later, Jamie is still on the path to recovery from the health scare.
Jamie is making great progress and is slowly regaining his usual self. He's not completely back to normal yet, but he's taking it easy and is definitely on the path to getting better. According to a source, Jamie has a strong support network of friends and family who are ensuring he doesn't push himself too hard.
In August 2023, Jamie expressed his gratitude for his ongoing recovery journey.
“I am grateful and starting to feel like myself again,” he shared on Instagram. “Though it has been a tough journey, I can finally see the light. Thank you to everyone who sent well wishes and prayers. I have many people to thank, and I will personally express my gratitude to each one of you. And remember, GOD IS GOOD every day.”
After a few months of recovery, Jamie returned to the set in January for the first time since his medical issue. He was seen in Atlanta, Georgia, working on his upcoming movie Back to Action alongside Cameron Diaz.
