With filming currently in progress for his Superman movie, James Gunn has revealed the official title and a teaser image for the highly-awaited DCU film.
For a while now, people have been referring to James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie as Superman: Legacy.
Gunn found inspiration from classic comics like Superman: Birthright, All-Star Superman, and Superman: Brainiac when writing the script. The logo used in a recent table read hints that the project may also draw from Mark Waid’s and Alex Ross’ influential Kingdom Come graphic novel.
In a recent update from Gunn, he has officially chosen a title for Superman's upcoming movie.
James Gunn’s Superman movie gets a new title
Superman's birthday falls on February 29. Interestingly, on February 29, 2024, the DCU's Superman movie will start its principal photography.
James Gunn took to his Instagram page to announce the news and revealed that a new title has been selected for the film. The movie will now simply be known as ‘Superman.’ Initially, Gunn had named the project Superman: Legacy when he completed the first draft of the script. However, as he finalized the script, it became evident that the title should be SUPERMAN.
In addition to the title change, Gunn also shared a sneak peek of the logo that will be used for his version of the Man of Steel. The logo, as seen during a supposed table read, pays homage to Clark Kent’s Kingdom Come design.
