Blue Beetle is regarded as a DCEU film that occurs after The Flash's reset, and the character is anticipated to have a significant role in the upcoming DCU. The movie has garnered favorable critiques and exceeded expectations in terms of box office performance.

James Gunn debunked a rumor that he removed Ben Affleck's Batman cameo from Blue Beetle.

Upon assuming the helm at DC Studios, Gunn introduced modifications to the ongoing DCEU projects. His initial action was to alter The Flash's conclusion, followed by making adjustments to the upcoming Aquaman sequel. Gunn clarified that these alterations were aimed at avoiding false expectations regarding future films in the DCEU that were not in the pipeline.

An X user alleged that originally, there was a voice cameo featuring Ben Affleck as Batman in Blue Beetle. The user described the cameo as "purely comedic." However, the user also claimed that Director James Gunn decided to remove the cameo to avoid connecting the film with the "batfleck continuity." Gunn swiftly denied these rumors by responding to the post and stating, "I have never heard of a Ben Affleck voice cameo in Beetle, and neither has Peter. There was no such removal."

Considering Gunn's track record of removing potential crossovers, it would have been logical for him to eliminate the cameo, just as he did for The Flash and Aquaman 2. The current status of the Blue Beetle film in relation to the DCEU or the DCU is causing widespread confusion. Gunn initially mentioned that Blue Beetle would be the first hero in the DCU, but clarified that, ultimately, the Blue Beetle film would not be directly connected to the DCU. In a recent Instagram post, Gunn described Blue Beetle as a "phenomenal addition to the DCU going forward."

Blue Beetle, a film in the DCEU, is set to take place after The Flash's reset and will play a significant role in the upcoming DCU.
