Jada Pinkett Smith is delving further into her previous romantic connections. In the wake of disclosing that she and her husband Will Smith have been leading "entirely independent lives" since 2016, Pinkett Smith discussed her camaraderie with the late rapper Tupac Shakur in an interview with RollingOut.
Pinkett Smith was questioned about her connection with Shakur, who tragically lost his life in a shooting incident in 1996. She acknowledged their profound bond, describing him as her "soulmate."
Reflecting on their long-lasting friendship, which commenced during their teenage years in Baltimore, Maryland, Pinkett Smith contemplated the possibility of past lives, asserting that she and Shakur may have shared numerous journeys together.
According to her, a romantic connection was not feasible due to the lack of chemistry between them. Pinkett Smith rebutted when the interviewer argued that their chemistry was evident to other people.
"It's the chemistry of a friendship love," she expressed.
"It seemed as if it was divinely orchestrated," Pinkett Smith added. "It felt like God intentionally brought us together as a powerful duo. However, it was made clear that our connection was not meant to be romantic or intimate."
Pinkett Smith is currently involved in press activities for her upcoming memoir titled "Worth," set to be released on Oct. 17. Within the book, she delves into her connection with Shakur.
In a recent preview of "Jada's Story - An NBC News Special," Pinkett Smith revisits the 2022 Oscars and shares her astonishment at witnessing her husband's heated confrontation with Chris Rock. She recalls him vehemently demanding, "Keep my wife's name out of your profanity-laden comments!"
Rock made a joke about Pinkett Smith, who is dealing with the hair loss condition alopecia.
"I must say, I was truly taken aback since I wasn't present," Pinkett Smith revealed to Hoda Kotb during the special. "It has been quite some time since we referred to one another as husband and wife."
