Microsoft is reorganizing its Xbox division, with Sarah Bond being promoted to the role of President of Xbox. As President, Bond will have oversight over the entire Xbox platform, as per a memo obtained by The Verge. Bond joined Microsoft in 2017 and was previously serving as the corporate vice president at Xbox.
In response to this news on social media, Bond expressed her gratitude saying, "Xbox. It's truly an honor. Always." Her promotion drew in an overwhelming amount of support and congratulations from well-wishers.
In her new position as President of Xbox, Bond will be responsible for the supervision of a range of Xbox teams, including those focusing on devices, player and creator experience, platform engineering, strategy, business planning, data and analytics, and business development.
Additionally, Matt Booty, the head of Microsoft Game Studios, has been promoted to president of game content and studios, where he will oversee ZeniMax and Bethesda.
Spencer mentioned in a staff memo regarding the changes that ZeniMax will continue as a "limited integration entity" with Jamie Leder from ZeniMax leading the way. In the new setup, Leder will report to Booty.
Additionally, Chris Capossela, the head of Xbox marketing at Microsoft since 1991, will be departing from the company. It might ring a bell as Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer had been discussing the potential acquisition of Nintendo with Capossela.
Microsoft's future plans, including the development of a new cloud-hybrid console by 2028, were unveiled in leaked Xbox planning documents. Although Microsoft stated that the leaked information might not be current, it still offered a sneak peek into what lies ahead for Xbox.
