Mauricio Umansky is now opening up about the reasons behind his rift with brother-in-law Rick Hilton and the Hilton family feud.

In a teaser for season 2 of Netflix's Buying Beverly Hills, Umansky, 53, shared, "I think I got kind of messed over by Hilton and Hyland. They had 100 agents and did $1 billion in sales, with me contributing to 19.6% of their production. But now, I am in a better place and feeling content."

Umansky had a talk with Kathy Hilton’s husband, Rick, 68, expressing his desire to have equity and become a full partner at the real estate firm. However, he was simply told "No" after their discussion.

Afterwards, Umansky confided in Kyle Richards about his worries regarding how his departure could affect her family. (It was confirmed that he and Kyle separated in July 2023.)

After returning home, I had a conversation with Kyle. I expressed my concern about the potential stress this decision could cause within his family. I made it clear that I didn't want to proceed with starting a new company and moving forward if he wasn't comfortable with it. To my relief, Kyle's sister was fully supportive of our plans.

During our discussion, they asked me why I hadn't given them any warning or indication of any concerns beforehand. I was taken aback by the mention of a "warning" as it had not crossed my mind before.

After departing from Hilton and Hyland, Umansky went on to start his own brokerage, The Agency, which is now the subject of Buying Beverly Hills.

Umansky expressed his admiration for Hilton and Hyland, stating that he thinks they are an amazing company. He emphasized that he would never speak negatively about them because he truly holds them in high regard. Umansky also mentioned that he is Rick's brother-in-law.

Unfortunately, Umansky shared that things took a negative turn, leading to a sour situation that affected the family, particularly Kyle. He revealed that the family stopped speaking to Kyle as a result of the situation.

He continued, "But she understood that what was done to me was wrong, and she stood by me. At the end of the day, I needed that."

In his April 2023 book The Dealmaker, Umansky shared about Rick and Kathy cutting ties with him and Richards, 55, after The Agency was created. "They couldn't understand how I could make the decision overnight without giving them a chance to convince me otherwise. They stopped communicating with us and stopped inviting us to Thanksgiving dinners and other holidays."

Umansky and Rick have set aside their past issues and now have a strong working relationship. Umansky shared with Us that they get along well now.

Meanwhile, sisters Richards and Kathy had their own feud during a cast trip to Aspen in a September 2022 episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Lisa Rinna revealed that Hilton confided in her about her problems with Richards during a private conversation off-camera.

During a family trip to Aspen in June 2023, Hilton and Richards were caught on camera reconciling. Kyle's eldest daughter, Farrah Aldjufrie, shared an Instagram Story where Hilton apologized, saying, "I'm sorry. It wasn't your fault. It was not your fault. It's not your fault. It was not your fault. I was just being sad."

The second season of "Selling Sunset: Buying Beverly Hills" will debut on Netflix on Friday, March 22.
