Inside Out 2 has seen some changes in its cast from the first movie. Fear and Disgust, originally played by Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling, have been replaced by Tony Hale and Liza Lapira. This switch happened due to contract issues between Hader, Kaling, and the studio, who were unhappy about pay differences compared to Amy Poehler, who plays Joy.

Pixar recently unveiled descriptions for new characters in the movie. Envy is a small character who knows what she wants. Ennui is portrayed as bored and lethargic, with a well-practiced eye-roll, bringing teenage apathy to Riley's personality. Embarrassment prefers to stay out of the spotlight, despite being a burly guy with a bright blush-pink complexion.
