Nicola Coughlan and her costar Luke Newton relaxed naked together in between filming scenes for Bridgerton.

In an interview with Teen Vogue published on April 24, Coughlan, 37, shared that it was a funny experience. She mentioned that it showed how comfortable they had become with each other. They had just finished filming a big and intense sex scene, and lounging naked together afterwards made them feel relieved.

Coughlan explained that they decided to stay put during filming because they weren't wearing proper clothes and didn't want to expose themselves to the crew if they got up between scenes.

She also shared that Newton, 31, made her feel comfortable and well taken care of during their intimate scenes.

"We always had each other's backs and could just laugh about it. I remember us lying under a blanket, saying, 'I should chill now,'" Coughlan shared in a February interview with AP Entertainment on TikTok. Newton chimed in, "Yeah, halfway through the day, you just relax and think, 'I don't really care if I'm naked.'"

Coughlan fondly remembered the moment when they were asked if they wanted to get up. They replied, 'No, no, I'm fine. I'm comfy.'

Coughlan emphasized the significance of those scenes in the story, stating that they are a crucial part of the narrative and not just filler content.

Season 3 of Bridgerton will focus on Penelope Featherington (Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Newton). Showrunner Jess Brownell explained that the decision to center the season around Penelope and Colin was because she felt it was their time to shine, following the previous seasons' focus on other main characters.

"We have been following these actors since Season 1 and have grown to connect with them. We know them well," she shared with Variety in May 2022. "In the latest season, there are moments of tension between them. Colin almost realizes that Penelope has feelings for him but doesn't fully grasp it. Instead of lingering on this dynamic, we decided to explore it further in their season. It felt like the perfect time to delve into it."

The first half of Bridgerton season 3 will be available on Netflix starting Thursday, May 16, with the remaining episodes releasing on Thursday, June 13.
