However, being a father has given him a sense of purpose and has helped him focus on something other than himself. Pacino's daughter, Julie Marie, was born in 1989 to Jan Tarrant, his acting coach. Julie has followed in her father's footsteps and has pursued a career in the film industry. Despite having a famous father, Julie credits her mother for keeping her grounded.

Growing up, Julie was constantly reminded by her mother to maintain perspective and never develop a sense of entitlement based on her father's success. In 2001, Al Pacino expanded Julie's family by welcoming twins with actress Beverly D'Angelo, whom he was in a relationship with until 2003. The twins were named Anton James and Olivia Rose.

D’Angelo shared the story of her romance with Pacino in a May 2023 Instagram video. According to her, they first met on a flight from Los Angeles to New York, with Pacino inviting her to sit beside him. From there, their connection blossomed and in 1997, Pacino expressed his desire for her to be the mother of his children. Despite having avoided that role previously, D’Angelo was smitten and fully committed to their relationship.

D'Angelo acknowledged that their relationship became complicated, but emphasized that their love for their children served as the foundation for resolving conflicts and building a new dynamic as coparents. Despite having raised three children to adulthood, Pacino announced in May 2023 that he is expecting his fourth child with girlfriend Noor Alfallah. The couple was first linked in April 2022 after being seen leaving Felix Restaurant together in Venice, California. Just a month after the pregnancy reveal, Pacino's representative confirmed that the couple had welcomed a baby boy named Roman Pacino.
