Iman Vellani Shifts Focus from The Marvels' Low Box Office Earnings

Iman Vellani, star of The Marvels, expresses pride in the film despite its underwhelming box office earnings

Iman Vellani, a star of The Marvels, recently expressed her indifference towards the film's underwhelming box office earnings. Despite its lackluster financial performance, The Marvels has garnered tremendous popularity among viewers as the latest collaboration from Marvel Studios.

Serving as a sequel and extension of a Disney+ series, this film chronicles the journey of Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Ms. Marvel as they confront an extraterrestrial peril and navigate the convergence of their powers.

While the movie may not have achieved the same financial success as other Marvel Cinematic Universe films, Iman Vellani, one of its cast members, has openly expressed her lack of emphasis on monetary gain.

Vellani is proud of The Marvels, box office earnings be damned

During her conversation with Yahoo Entertainment, Vellani, who portrays Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, shared her perspective on the movie's lesser box office revenues in contrast to other MCU films.

"I have no involvement with the box office," Vellani expressed. "I am delighted with the final outcome, and the individuals I value have truly enjoyed the film. Watching this movie is an enjoyable experience, and that's all we can hope for with these types of films.

"It features superheroes, takes place in space, it's not overly complex, and it revolves around teamwork and sisterhood. It's an entertaining film, and I am simply thrilled to be able to share it with others."

Vellani went on to add, “I don’t want to focus on something that’s not even in my control, because what’s the point? That’s for Bob Iger.”

The Marvels has currently grossed $161 million at the box office, placing it as the lowest debuting MCU film in theaters, even coming in lower than Edward Norton's The Incredible Hulk.

Nevertheless, the film has received predominantly positive reviews, with critics praising Vellani's performance. Additionally, it holds the distinction of being the largest opening weekend for a movie directed by a Black woman, with Nia DaCosta leading the project.

Editor's P/S

Iman Vellani, star of The Marvels, has expressed her pride in the film despite its underwhelming box office earnings. She stated that she is more focused on the positive reception from audiences and the enjoyment of the film, rather than its financial performance.

This is a refreshing perspective in an industry where box office numbers are often seen as the ultimate measure of success. Vellani's comments suggest that she is more concerned with the quality of the film and its impact on audiences, rather than its commercial success. This is a commendable attitude, and one that should be encouraged in the film industry.
